Battery 100% ---> 48% overnight with no apps running?!

Just as the title states, I went to bed at around 12:30 last night with a full charge and no apps running. When I got up at 7:00 the battery was down to 48%. Wifi was turned on but I haven't had any problems getting a signal in my room. Any ideas why the battery drained so much so quickly? It's a 64gb vzw version from week 36.

How many bars do you get?

really? didn't think it made a difference...i always only lose 4-6% overnight even with that on.

didn't think having icloud on matters at all either.

iCloud will only backup if the iPhone is locked and plugged in. So it's not iCloud.

As for the person asking about app data/game saves, the app should automatically load it or have something in the settings where you can manage iCloud data.

I would try a restore and set up as new phone.

My iP5 did a similar thing last night. Mine was in airplane mode and it dropped from 100% to 78% and there is nothing running in the background. If it happens again I will return it to the store. I also did a full reset and fresh restore today.

Last night mine went from 95% to 72%! I was thinking the same thing. 20% overnight is way too much. I have location services on and 1 push email. Tonight I will switch location off and I changed my push email to fetch email and I'll see if it makes a big difference. I'll report tomorrow.

I had my iPhone 5 plugged at 100% before going to bed. I turned off Wi-Fi and I turned on Do Not Disturb and actually manually closed all apps so that nothing is running in the background.

The end result overnight, my phone still drained 14% with usage at 23 minutes and standby time of 7 hours, 43 minutes. Makes absolutely no sense and I imagine it's a bug in iOS 6.

My battery does not seem to be too bad, as you can see by the photo I got around 36 hours off a chrage, with 5 hours of usage, now the usage was not intense, I have two push emails, one is icould and the other is work, and to that I go get manually. I had bluetooth and wifi on the whole time, some notifications were on and some location services. I kept closing out any apps that were running. Screen was auto brightness.

Have you got iCloud Backup switched on? Mine uploads about 4GB of data a night, although you haven't got yours plugged in.

Are you sure about that? I believe it only uploads the daily changes each night (not the entire size of your backup file).

One thing that happened to me with my 4S is that I got some emails stuck on the server. The iphone was constantly trying to download, never could and the battery was used up.

I called Godaddy and have the fix it on their end, and my battery life returned.

Do you have Find My Friends and/or Find My Phone enabled?

Both of these location-based services can be triggered remotely without any apps running in the background.

If you have Photostream enabled, your iPhone may also download large numbers of photos from the cloud automatically, if you have friends thats share photos.

But if you are in airplane mode so there is no cellular or wifi connections available the phone should not be doing anything location based or otherwise. Possible bug, or something else but I would suspect a bug.

Lte off, location on, mail on 30 mins fetch, screen brightness on 25%. So far I'm on 50% battery with exactly 3 hour usage and 11 hours 37 mins standby. I'm guessing this will be my setup for a while.

I have photo stream on along with find my iphone..not find my friends and still only lose 4%
