Battery of watch and iPhone seem to both be draining. iPhone is still reporting loads of usage While not using the phone. Every time I pick up my phone it has dropped another percent and the watch drops as well. Lost 20 percent watch in 4 hours.. lost 15 percent of the iPhone in the same time. Haven't done much in the devices. Really sucks.

If I do this and setup as new, I will lose all my data then correct?
I may try later just unpairing and re-pairing..
Also will just try rebooting the watch first.

I tried a reboot first and that didn't seem to remedy my battery issue.

After unpairing and re-pairing I set mine up as new. The only thing I lost was my settings like sounds, haptics and how I had my notifications setup. If you mean health data, all of my health data was still in the Activity app on my iPhone and then repopulated back on the watch after it was finished setting up.

Ok sounds good... yes that is what I was referring to - Health Data.
I'll try a full reset later

Yes, you will be setting your Watch up as a new device.

I'm on 3.1 and shows no update available. Between this thread and the other thread about all the lock ups after the update I wouldn't touch it if it did show up.

That's the thing....seems like those who experienced an error touched it or tried to restart it during the process, at least from what I've read. To be fair though, Apple Watch updates do take some time. I updated to Watch OS 3.1.1 overnight right after 10.2 on my iPhone so not sure how long it actually took.

Doesn't make sense to me. Why would somebody try to restart the watch during the update process. I mean, what would you expect to happen? Of course it can cause technical issues if you tamper with the watch during the software update. I know it goes without saying, but when you update the software on your iPhone or Apple Watch, leave it be until it's completed.

Most products give an explicit warning about unplugging or switching off a device when installing updates...so it's beyond me as well. Not blaming anyone who experienced a failed download or anything because maybe it was the software. Just odd how some experienced issues and some didn't with the installation of Watch OS 3.1.1.

Agreed. I can't imagine ignoring a warning that clearly states not to turn the device off during an update.

Today has been weird. The batteries of my iPhone and watch have been in sync all day. They are now both at 45 percent. So weird.

My phone claims usage of 4,5 hours. My watch claims 3 hours of usage. Both ridiculous, haven't done much with the devices. Have been of the charger for 14 hours.

My girlfriends phone is at 67 after playing Pokemon go for a while and after 15 hours of charger. Her watch is at 87. The hell.

That usage makes me think you have a few apps that are not native apps and/or not updated to work with os3 or they talk to the phone too much with background refresh and not written for os3. And one more. Bad apps.

Turn off all background app refresh to test for a day or two. Remove non native apps from your dock or complication.

That much usage when you say it is high tells me you have a poor app on your watch/dock/complication with background refresh.

Since I've been having this problem for a while I only have stock apps on my phone and watch. Also background refresh is turned off on both devices.

How many hours of usage does your watch report?

If I unpair my watch I can go for two days of medium usage on the phone. With it paired they both only last a day if I don't actually use them, but they still report hours of usage.

I get the same amount of usage as you when I am actively using the AW a lot, but it matches more to what I know how I used it compared to what you are saying. If you have the watch on your arm and don't use it other than to look at the time and to see alerts, you shouldn't have 4 hours of usage. Something is wrong... Battery draining faster than you expect and then you see 3-4 hours of usage, something is going on in the background. I wouldn't keep re-pairing anymore since the same thing happens. I can't even blame a bad battery because of the usage being reported.

I finished the day with over 60% of battery after putting it on at night at 100% and then a workout in the morning. That's if I don't charge while showering. I would just double check background refresh off on the phone and watch.

Hoping you figure it out. That much usage when you say you are not using and repairing makes me blame communication between the watch and phone... app, bluetooth problem or something.

Eveything is turned off. Even Siri. It's a really frustrating problem since it affects both watch and iPhone. Apple has been trying to help me but they couldn't find anything wrong with the watch and send it back to me. They have been looking into my iCloud account for well over two months now. Nothing changes though.

I have been having the same issue since I updated to the latest iOS. My iWatch would usually last all day but after the update it last till 6pm which is the time I am at the gym...... this is frustrating
