Just have a question about my old 13P.
I activated Airplane Mode with wifi on. In 19h battery droppef from 100% to 82% without a single use. Sure a few notification come still through (5-8) but is that normal?
It does sound poor, but standby time has been very poor on iPhones since iOS 11. This is not about an iPhone that has been updated: iPhones on their original iOS versions since at least the iPhone X have had very poor standby battery life.
I am an efficient user. I have efficient settings. I use an iPhone Xʀ on iOS 12. I get 16 hours of screen-on time with light use. Yet standby is very poor comparatively. Nothing too abhorrent with good signal strength, but when you put that next to the amazing SOT, it should be way better. iOS does more in the background since iOS 12, and chances are that standby time will only get worse, especially on updated devices.
Just to give a number, my Xʀ can drop maybe 4% overnight. That’s not good! That’s about 40 minutes of SOT loss every 8 hours solely due to standby. So about 2 hours of SOT loss per day solely due to standby. Sometimes it can be even more. Grab an iPhone that not only doesn’t run iOS 12, but has also been updated twice, and you can expect far worse than that.
To get good standby you need to grab an iPhone 6s or 7 on iOS 10. Anything newer won’t be as good.
I haven’t been surprised about the 14 series’ battery life, and it seems like the 15 series may be even worse. There’s no reason why, with today’s battery sizes, an iPhone should struggle to get 10 hours of SOT with moderate usage. iPhones did that back on iOS 8, with the iPhone 6 Plus...
