Just have a question about my old 13P.

I activated Airplane Mode with wifi on. In 19h battery droppef from 100% to 82% without a single use. Sure a few notification come still through (5-8) but is that normal?
It does sound poor, but standby time has been very poor on iPhones since iOS 11. This is not about an iPhone that has been updated: iPhones on their original iOS versions since at least the iPhone X have had very poor standby battery life.

I am an efficient user. I have efficient settings. I use an iPhone Xʀ on iOS 12. I get 16 hours of screen-on time with light use. Yet standby is very poor comparatively. Nothing too abhorrent with good signal strength, but when you put that next to the amazing SOT, it should be way better. iOS does more in the background since iOS 12, and chances are that standby time will only get worse, especially on updated devices.

Just to give a number, my Xʀ can drop maybe 4% overnight. That’s not good! That’s about 40 minutes of SOT loss every 8 hours solely due to standby. So about 2 hours of SOT loss per day solely due to standby. Sometimes it can be even more. Grab an iPhone that not only doesn’t run iOS 12, but has also been updated twice, and you can expect far worse than that.

To get good standby you need to grab an iPhone 6s or 7 on iOS 10. Anything newer won’t be as good.

I haven’t been surprised about the 14 series’ battery life, and it seems like the 15 series may be even worse. There’s no reason why, with today’s battery sizes, an iPhone should struggle to get 10 hours of SOT with moderate usage. iPhones did that back on iOS 8, with the iPhone 6 Plus...

Did reset my 15 P yesterday. One of the reasons was that when using the camera app it got hot when taking like 5 pics. Battery drained from 43% to 25% in less than an hour and I just took a few pics. Every time it got hot I lose 2-4%.

Now today I didn't try the camera but using the phone like always. X, Facebook, Instagram, Tapatalk, News, Safari etc.

1:45h SOT and 86% battery left. Off charger since 7 am. Currently 12 pm.

From my own experience, the regular 15 has much better battery than the 15 Pro. I returned my 15 Pro and now happy with the 15 and its great battery.

I went from a 13 mini to a 15 Pro and I'm really unimpressed with the battery.

It really doesn't feel much different. I took about 10 photos in the space of 10 minutes, leaving the camera app open the whole time and battery went from approx 55% to 45% and the phone got quite warm.

Are you on 17.0.3?

That’s still a problem. I‘m on B 17.1 and my GF on 17.0.3. always the camera

Any tips what I can do? 50% with 2:12h usage. I used podcast for 1:50h with 1:30h background.

99% WiFi + 50% max brightness (most of time 20-30%)
17.0.3

Phone DOESNT get hot.

Is it still hot after taking some photos? Mine continues to heat up a lot after 5 photos.

It’s currently pretty cold outside. I shot 35 min proraw yesterday and it didn’t feel cold with 2 degrees Celsius lol. But battery dropped 15% in about 45 min haha

It's hard to compare directly, but after a few days of use I'd say my 15pro battery is. a little worse than my regular 14, which sis disappointing seeing as how the official estimates showed better battery life for the 15 pro. Most of the time it won't an issue--the battery will still comfortably last all day--but I always worry about the battery when travellng since i can't always charge my devices on the plane.

I came to the 15P from a 14PM, so I was expecting a drop in battery life. The new 15P definitely doesn't last as long as the 14PM, but it still gets me through a day, and ultimately, that is all I care about. I have battery packs if I need them.
