I’ve had my Series 9 45mm for little over 3 weeks and it’s been flawless, never had any battery issues.

Updated to 10.1.1 this morning,

Went for a 1.5 hour walk with just the Activity App running for counting the walk.

It drained 15% battery in 1.5 hours of nothing else?

Usually it’s 1-5% from the last 3 weeks of doing the same walk.

Anyone else experience any issues since updating?

I know this update was supposed to fix any battery drain issues, I’ve never had them in the last 3 weeks but since this morning it’s running down a lot faster.

give it a week of usage ...

Got my Ultra 2 ~a week and a half ago. Charged to full the first day, and then wore it for 48 hours. Was down to around 27%%. Charged it and repeated the cycle a couple more times (recharged once at 30% and once at 26%).

Upgraded to 10.1.1 (and rebooted the watch) this morning just before leaving for the airport. Was 100% at 5:30am when I left home, 96% when I boarded my flight at 6:45am, 89% at 8:45am (after first flight) and 65% at 12:00pm (after 2nd flight). Used airplane mode on iPhone while in-flight. Listened to audiobook/music via airpods (from my iPhone); only thing I used my watch for was to check the time.

Anyone else have degraded battery on their Ultra after the update? Or does anyone notice significantly poor performance with air travel?

I feel like my AWU2 is definitely draining fast after this most recent update. No issues beforehand. Apple can’t ever seem to get it right these days, can they

When you first update the OS (happens on both watch and phone), the watch can do a lot of background work reorganizing and indexing itself. This can lead to worse battery performance for a few days. It might also be recalibrating its battery gauge, which takes a few cycles to get locked in, which can lead to readings that are lower than reality.

don't ever pass final judgment on battery life until around a week in.

every update has the potential to do this, but more expected on major ones. Since this one addressed battery issues, it's highly likely it's recalibrating.

That's really good to know, thanks for sharing!

^^THIS
give it a week, reboot watch

and fwiw, my Ultra 2 seems slightly better after 10.1.1 but need more time

On a plane posting this now...

Upgraded to 10.1.1 this week and battery life seems somehow even better. I charged the watch to 100% last night around 10:30pm. Wore it to bed and when I woke up it was at 98%. Now about 5 hours later it is at 93%. I used the watch as my boarding pass today at security, the SkyClub and boarding the plane. so much better, easier and faster than the S4. So now 10+ hours from a full charge and using the watch at full brightness (I just left the boarding pass on my screen) and still in the 90's for battery life.

I can't complain about those numbers...

Not sure what I am doing any different, but less than 10% usages in 10-11 hours for sleep tracking, walking through the airport and depending on the watch as my boarding pass is fantastic to me.

I have the same issue. My battery life is worse since 10.1.1 it was "normal" with 10.1 hopefully it will improve.
Mine has improved today. Like others have said I guess it takes time to recalibrate and perhaps do some background tasks.

My AWU1 was fully charged yesterday at 12.54hrs. today at 15.27 hrs it is at 63%. With no activities, the consumption is not so good compared to OS9. But better than OS10. Couple of weeks ago with same situation, the battery used to drop to 50% or lower. So, 10.1.1 is working well for me.

Not going to lie, at this point after all the novelty of the Ultra 2 has wore off, my watch doesn't go under 75 by the end of any day and I don't really bother finding out how much longer is the battery going to last for.

Well, after charging my Ultra 2 fully around 38 hours ago, 2 sleeps, multiple flights and traveling, some exercising, plenty of Slack notifications, lots of flashlight use last night; my battery is at 40%.

10.1.1 FTW for me.

This was my first flight since getting the Ultra 2 and watching the altimeter change rapidly during ascent and descent was neat to see. Worked great. Can't wait to check it out on the ski lift/tram this winter. #nerdlife

Maybe it has some weird learning behaviors and it’s figuring itself out after the 10.1.1 update. I charged the AWU2 to 100% 5pm on Tuesday and put it back on the charger this morning (Friday 830am) with 17%. So roughly 60 hours with wearing all day, to bed, basic notifications, and some flashlight use. I guess that’s pretty good? I saw that Apple advertises as 36 hours with general
Use, so I guess I’m well beyond that?

After reading some of the replies, it sounds like I need to give the battery a little more time to recalibrate. I'd love to get to the point of 10% usage in 10-11 hours, but I'd settle to go back to getting 48 hours between recharges. Fingers crossed and thanks for sharing!

Another question that I was thinking about today- does the phone model have anything to do with the watch battery life? In other words, does having one of the iPhone 15 models give better watch battery life? For the record, I have a 14 Pro.

AWU2 on 10.1.1 and after 38 hours it is at 50%. AOD on and cellular on but close to iPhone. No GPS use. This is the best battery life ever on any model and any software so far.

Update…last full charge was 10:20am this morning. Currently a bit after 9pm and at 90% battery on the AWU2. Not really sure what’s going on, feel like the OS/watch has a mind of its own 😂

AWS5 on 10.1.1 - barely makes it through the day.
60-90 minute workout - will fall to 20% before 20 hours....disappointed to say the least.
Losing about 5%/hr after full charge to 100%.
I know it hasn't been a week since it came out....not impressed so far...

AWU2… seems to be struggling after 10.1.1 install.

Last charged to 100% on Wednesday 23:39 and I’m at 24% on Friday at 23:48. Seems to drop pretty quickly. Hopefully the next update fixes this.

reboot the watch. My U2 battery life is slightly better with 10.1.1

That’s 24% left after 48 hours. Of AOD is on that is great battery life.
