Got my Ultra 2 ~a week and a half ago. Charged to full the first day, and then wore it for 48 hours. Was down to around 27%%. Charged it and repeated the cycle a couple more times (recharged once at 30% and once at 26%).

Upgraded to 10.1.1 (and rebooted the watch) this morning just before leaving for the airport. Was 100% at 5:30am when I left home, 96% when I boarded my flight at 6:45am, 89% at 8:45am (after first flight) and 65% at 12:00pm (after 2nd flight). Used airplane mode on iPhone while in-flight. Listened to audiobook/music via airpods (from my iPhone); only thing I used my watch for was to check the time.

Anyone else have degraded battery on their Ultra after the update? Or does anyone notice significantly poor performance with air travel?
I have the same issue with my ultra 1

After 10.1.1 battery is stellar. It might be possible to reach 2.5-3 full days with AOD on and cellular on. The only time it drains fast is when swimming. Either pool or ocean. I think it cranks the brightness to full to compensate for sun and it is on cellular far from the phone. It could probably go 24 hours like that.

AWS5 on 10.1.1 - barely makes it through the day.
60-90 minute workout - will fall to 20% before 20 hours....disappointed to say the least.
Losing about 5%/hr after full charge to 100%.
I know it hasn't been a week since it came out....not impressed so far...

So you make it though the day, still have around 20% left after 20 hours of use with a workout, on a watch that is 3-4 years old.
A watch that when it had a new battery said it was good for 18 hours. Throw on top of that a battery closing in on 1000 cycles, which should have much lower capacity.

Sounds like you're getting more with 10.1.1 than what it was supposed to get when it was new.
and you're not impressed?

The new update is even worse. Not sure what Apple is thinking but I’m down to 38% in 24 hrs of use. Before I had at least 60% in 24 hrs.

When you first update the OS (happens on both watch and phone), the watch can do a lot of background work reorganizing and indexing itself. This can lead to worse battery performance for a few days. It might also be recalibrating its battery gauge, which takes a few cycles to get locked in, which can lead to readings that are lower than reality.

don't ever pass final judgment on battery life until around a week in.

every update has the potential to do this, but more expected on major ones. Since this one addressed battery issues, it's highly likely it's recalibrating.

Yeah this is good info.
I just recently updated my SE to 10.1 then 10.1.1, at the same time I got an iPhone 15 and re-connected my watch to that!
Let me tell you, it was a crazy first few days of battery drain on my SE.
But then after a couple restarts, and a few days, it's now seemingly back to normal.
It "feels" like it drains a tiny bit quicker still, but I'm also rocking the Snoopy watch face, and probably checking it more 😬

how long ago did you do the update?

if it's been less than a couple days, don't worry
if it's been less than a week, but more than a couple days, be very mildly concerned
if it's been more than a week, then you might have an issue.

if it's been more than a week, try unpairing and re-pairing the watch, you can restore from backup so you don't loose any settings.

If it's still bad a few days after that re-pair, then try a re-pair again, this time without doing the restore from backup.

When it came out I updat3d. It’s been more than a week.
