how can i check this? thanks.

really? but i decided i don't wanna use Itunes ever again, only Via cloud...

i don't think so. i thought this might have been the issue at my work,
but today it was the same at home with my trusty WIFI.
You can continue using cloud services after.

interesting..
so you people saying that even if i use Wifi connection, the phone stills need good 4G tower?
but i thought part of the purpose was to save also battery life with switching to Wifi :(
The phone wouldn't be using cellular data, but it would still be connecting and maintaining a conenction to a cellular tower for the voice/SMS parts of it all. So you are definitely saving cellular data and some additional battery usage that comes with cellular data usage compared to WiFi data usage, but battery is still getting used to connect to and maintain the cellular connection even if it's not being actively used.

You could test it by putting your phone in airplane mode and then turning wifi on. If the batt. drain stops then the cell connection is your problem.

i'll try that soon i hope..
but still - can this cause that much of a difference in battery usage?

Yes, I used to work in the basement of a large building occasionally. If I forgot to turn off my phone when I was there, my phone would be dead in a couple of hours.

Something like a few percent in a few hours? It's certainly possible depending on the cellular signal (assuming that's what might be behind it).

The other potential possibly is that the calibration of the battery meter has gotten less accurate over time. Have you tried using up the whole battery and then charging it all the way back to 100% and keeping an eye on how things perform over the next few cycles after that?

i'm going full OCD on this and i need to know why this is happening..

i have a 6S+ since November,
and the battery was kept perfect when on standby.
perfect meaning i charge it over night, and could be on 100% if the phone is unused.

well, it's now started draining even when i don't touch the phone at all.
i lost 4% in a few hours.
it's only on WIFI, and i have no background services or anything.

what happened? is this has something to do with the IOS (9.2.1)?
did i change something by mistake?
please help me solve this.
thanks.
Go to the store if it really bothers u. My first instinct is location services and the good ole Facebook app draining ur battery like a monster.

Uh regardless of wifi or network, you are using your power right?

By experience, it seems the battery start to be defective. If you lose some % just in some hours of standby and if your phone start to shut down at 14% its a battery issue and the problem will be bigger and bigger as time goes on. My iphone 5 started to be like this and one year later, it shut down at 20% and even 30%.

My 6 plus battery is still as good as one and a half year ago. It can stay at 100% for 7-8 hours on standby and it shut down at 1%.

yea, that's what i mean. until i find out what's really wrong, i do not expect anything less than that.
but no reason for my battery to be defective after 4 months of proper use.

no abnormalities in location services, and i don't use FB app.
what can be wrong with my power usage? seems proper and precise.

really? that bad?
besides, i though the new batteries nowdays do not require full drainage to set up their memory..

It's not the battery but the battery meter that sometimes needs to be recalibrated every once in a while to be more accurate.

oh, ok..
just seems weird this can be suddenly that much inaccurate.
today for instance it stayed 100% for a few hours of standby,
so i started to feel relieved, but then once it got to 99% it's again drains drastically.

Do a hard boot, hold the power and home button at the same time and turn off your computer. I do this every now and then to resync

yea, already did that ;)
thanks.
i really hope this is a temporary inner IOS process..
or some app misbehaving. though i have only the basic apps working now.

Mine is now getting worse, shuts off at about 30% remaining. Mind you, the other 70% also drains quicker.

Could it be the phone, or the OS?

I've of course tried the usual force-reboot, close apps, look for culprits in the battery usage page..

The best way to check this is always going to be to completely wipe the phone and setup as new. It doesn;t have to be permanently, but it's an easy diagnostic. Restore the phone, don't install anything if you can help it, and just give it a day or two. If it's a hardware issue, you will see the exact same thing happening with a completely wiped phone.

You can either backup to icloud or your computer so that when the time comes you can get back everything you had before wiping. The idea behind wiping is leaving the phone factory dead stock for a while. Nobody can tell you it's your apps or your backup draining your battery if it's draining with a clean stock OS instal.

The battery gauge is not accurate period. It is over optimistic up high and nose dives down low.
Kinda like a fuel gauge in a car where the top half is goes down slower than the bottom half.
Mine stays at 100% for a long time even with use, but once it starts moving, it goes at an unpredictable rate. Also if I wake up in the morning with 60%, it doesn't mean it will last the second day unless I switch it to Low Power Mode by about 40%.
Either way, battery life is still great cause I have yet to run it dry in a day!

i might do that, just to learn about what you say.
BUT maybe a battery starts showing mild "fatigue" after 4 months?
maybe it's natural and predictable?
i don't have any info on that.

yea i know - it can stay on 100% for a pretty long time with mild use, but once it goes 99% it's different rate.
but i still DO notice the faster rate is a little faster than before. cannot say if that started gradually or not.
that's my OCD concern atm ;)

Same thing happened to me. Had my 6s plus nearly 6 months. Turns out icloud became bugged and was constantly trying to retrieve data in the background.
I deleted my icloud account from the phone and set up icloud again. Has been ok since

Icloud? hmm interesting. thanks. i'll check that also.

I don't know that it's natural or predictable, but I will say you're unlikely to find an answer on what's going on in your specific situation without trying some minor disagnostics.

This obsession people have with the battery is pathetic. I mean use the damn thing and when its time either pay the $79 bucks and get a new one or if the fail is covered under warranty Apple will cove it.

Not everyone lives next to an Apple Store. In my case, the phone will need to be shipped to Apple, something that will take about two weeks in total in my experience. It sucks to go back to a 4 or 5 for a few weeks all because Apple don't have their QC in order.

The problem with that is apple QC is just fine.
Actual battery issues are very very low. Peoples ridiculous obsession about them is very very high.

that the point, i'm NOT talking on a defective battery, i just wanna know if it's some kind of software bug.
i don't need a new battery if this is natural battery degrading.
but if this issue will keep on happening even with a new battery,
i'm just curious to find out why.
seems you didn't even read the thread obviously.
