I understand about the additional 8 hours of idle time. The Watch sat on my desk right next to my phone all night. I have had it last two full days several times in the past so it drained faster than I have seen previously.

given the watch isn't intended to be left off charge and not worn ("all day" battery life and an emphasis on the nightstand show apple clearly wants you to put it on getting out of bed and take it off when you get into bed) - i wouldn't be surprised if the watch does *more* (checking in with the phone, etc.) when it's idle off the wrist than when it's on it.

Length of charge is not relevant, but the fact you took it off the charger is ;) You took it off the charger, what, at least 8 hours earlier than usual? did you wear it overnight or leave it on the side; either way it will use battery.

Did you use the workout app or any other? Or just wore it while golfing?
Yesterday I had it mirroring my golf GPS app. Screen tends to come on a lot when I golf too. Today I golfed again and did not use the GPS. Currently at 56%.

Nicho, Thanks for your thoughts on this one. The time it sat on my desk at night was not really the issue, it was more about how fast it went down during the following day. I have the Battery percent on my Watch face, so I have been keeping an eye on it as the day progresses. Normally, it goes down at a pretty consistent rate, but the day I charged for only 1.5 hours, it went down much faster all day long. It was very noticeable from previous days and it has not happened again since that day.

It is puzzling, but not too worrisome unless it happens repeatedly. If it happens again, I will try to keep track of what was different to see if I can come up with a plausible reason.

do you use siri often and hows your cell signal?

i know this because when i went to japan a couple of months ago, my apple watch died on me for the first and only time. we were in the hotel and as we left i used siri, but we left the wifi before it could give me a result. thought nothing of it at the time - until i had a dead watch later that afternoon. i didn't get any notifications, having data roaming off, and didn't use any apps at all. siri working in the background (and not being able to do anything) was the only possible explanation i could come up with. i turned off siri for the rest of my trip, and no problems whatsoever.

That is possible. I tried to use Siri a couple of times before my run to start the Workout App. Siri works fine to start a workout, as long as you have your phone on you. The first time I tried to use her without my phone, she just sat their with the squiggly line at the bottom. I pressed the crown and started the Workout App manually. I do not recall if the Battery was an issue because that was the first couple of days after I bought the Watch and I was still getting used to it.

The second time it happened, the Watch said I was within WiFi range of the phone as I was just outside my front door, but she still locked up and did not start the Workout App. I cannot recall if that was the same day I short-charged the phone, or not. (I run a lot...) ;)
