hey,
ive hadmy macbook for 4 months, and the battery health is down to 90% with only 71 cycles, is there a way apple would change the battery under warrenty? e.g. if it dips below a certain amount, or do they not replace that under warrenty?
cheers
Pete

They'll usually replace it for you if it goes under 80% with less than 300 cycles.

I've had my MacBook for 3 months now, and its battery is luckily still at 100% capacity after 50 cycles (4 battery-loadcycles).

Using CoconutBattery, I noticed that it said my MacBook's current battery capacity is 5361, as opposed to its original capacity at 5200! Is this saying that the battery has improved?

Haha, it's a weird situation isn't it? I didn't believe it myself, but if you take a look through some of the posts on this thread you'll see that there's quite a few people who's battery capacity's have actually increased.

Count yourself as one of the lucky ones. I'm on 57 cycles and my capacity is around 6300, but the highest it got to was 6700 (from an original of 5500!). Looks like I reached my max and am slowly on the way down now ... :D

Oh by the way if you're using coconutBattery in Leopard people have said that you might not be getting acurate results; especially the load cycles.

According to iStat, mine is at 99% with 4 cycles... According to Coconut Battery, however, it is over its original capacity... so which is right?

same with mine

mine is 99% just after 4 cycles

because i've been using the power adapter every time in use

unless i take it for a ride, lol

If anyone recalls I was talking about how my battery was messed up a few weeks ago. It had from 110-111 cycles and its battery life was fluctuating from 4%-29% lol So I finally got it replaced at a Genius Bar (just in time, my Apple warranty expires next month although I have another extended one), and it's great now. On iStat is showed it had 99% health to begin at 0 cycles, and I know it's all good because that's nothing when it comes to these batteries. They tend to fluctuate anyway lol Then I looked on CoconutBattery and it says the health is 100%, but shows it's current capacity is MORE than it's original one. lol Either way I'm not frustrated about my battery anymore :D

Current Battery Capacity = 5430mAh
Original Battery Capacity = 5200mAh

75 Cycles over a 7 month period.

I use the battery to its fullest, i don't often half charge it.

Never calibrated my battery (forget how I stumbled upon this thread.. googling something else).. but using CoconutBattery 2.5.1:

battery load cycles: 4
age of mac: 9 months

original battery capacity: 5500mah
current battery capacity: 6131mah

2.33 MacBook Pro 17 which has mainly been used as a portable desktop replacement

Well beat this. My battery heath is 88% after 305 loads (iStat) and when it gets to 67% charge, it suddenly drops stairght to 49% charge and 68% health. It rules.

It also just goes to sleep at 23% charge, and pretty much drops to 9% battery health.

I hooked mine up to the alternator in my car. It ran great for about three days without a charge, but now something green is oozing out of the seams. Should I be worried?

BTW, quick question. Is it normal to see the battery say it's charged when at 95-99%? I think I read about it being so before, but just wanted to make sure.

Open up System Profiler (or click on About this Mac and then the More Info option) and go to the Power section. There you'll be able to see what Mac OS reads as your battery capacity regardless of any issues that may be surrounding coconutBattery. Personally for me though, it's always the same value as coconutBattery reports.

Yeah that's perfectly normal; the battery will only start charging when it goes below 95% to prevent overcharging; using unnecessary charge cyles.

Mine is at 95% at 5 cycles in a 3 month period.

I calibrated it last week, and it didn't help.

You've only got 5 cycles after 3 months? I think you need to use it on battery more my friend. I try and use it fully on battery at LEAST once every other day. And when I do, I let it run all the way down to 5% or lower (when the message comes up warning you that you should plug it in soon) and then don't use it on battery again until it's fully charged.

You need to get those electrons in your battery moving on a regular basis to keep it nice and healthy! :)

i just bought a new macbook on tues when they came out. since then, i've used a total of 5 cycles, 2 from fully calibrating last night, and coconutbattery and system profiler both gave me the following stats:

Current Capacity: 5063
Org Capacity: 5200

So i'm down to 97% capacity after 3 days and 5 cycles!:mad::mad:

*Shrug* Mine's at 95% at 12 cycles. No big deal - just use your battery well and calibrate, and it'll be okay.

My previous one was 54% at 300 cycles - now that was bad.

new MBP!!

got the Penryn MBP wednesday night.
just ran coconut today.
it says age of MAC is 122 MONTHS!! what do i do?

Despite the age of this thread, the OP's post bothers me. It took him/her three months to drop down to 99%. I got a brand new penryn MBP, and calibrated the battery the first night/next day. I am on my third cycle now and my battery was at 99% health since my first cycle.

Did I do something wrong? Is 99% normal? I brushed it off assuming that maybe iStat Pro has inaccurate info, but now I am curious.

Can anybody provide me with more information?

i think it's really hard to get 100%

mine is at 98% after 3 cycles only through istat..
never saw it to be 99 nor 100
