Hi all, I’ve had the iPhone XS for the past two days and have noticed the battery draining faster than my 7. I’ve had around4-4.5 hours of screen time and the battery is down to 39 percent. Is this normal? Here is my usage graph, thanks!i will note I’ve had only 2 bars of service and no WiFi during this time.

I’ve had a relatively weak battery performance so far too.

On Friday the battery drained with under 4 hours screen on time.

There was also significant battery drain during the night, from 93-75% with zero usage in that time.

When setting up a new, restored, updated or rest iPhone the next 12 - 72 hours may see unusual heat and or activity as spotlight indexes the files on your phone.

My MAX is getting as good if not better battery use than my X. I average 2 to 3 bars on cellular. Again about the same as my X.

But then I refuse to use social media apps.

Instagram is running all the time. No app should use 28% battery. I would find a 3rd party insta app and disable background app refresh in settings. You will still get push notifications

I am getting great battery life on my Max, but something I have noticed is that my battery stats don't work like everyone else who has posted screenshots. My screen on and off time is never accurate, but I see many posts on here with screenshots like above that do work. Weird.

Unless someone in fact uses Instagram quite a bit.

Whew, I thought it was just me - I'm getting a huge battery drain as well. Before I sleep I take off the phone off the charger and it's at 100%, by the time I wake up after 6hrs it's at 84 or 85%. Never had this happen on my previous iPhone X, so I have a Genius appointment this Sunday to look at my iPhone XS Max.

Mine is bad aswell, all I see is 3hours and 16 minutes of screen on time with 29% already. It went from 39% to 29% just in stand-by in 4 hours.

I feel like my battery is also not good. An hour of use according the Battery app is consuming around 20% power. It loses 10-15% overnight doing nothing. Looking at it now, I went from 97% charge to 5% charge with "screen on" time of 3.5 hours. Pathetci.

I’m down to 10% with 4hrs 30mins on screen time today.

This is under completely normal use; mostly safari and a bit of iTunes video and YouTube make up 55% of that usage.

Given that I’m supposed to get 14 hours of video playback and 12 hours of we browsing - something clearly isn’t right. This is around 1/3 the performance I should be getting, even allowing for apple’s ideal battery testing conditions would it be unreasonable to expect 8 hours of usage?

I just returned my XS I couldn’t deal with the crappy battery life even if a software update fixes it but I had antenna issues for cellular and WiFi too that is hardware which I doubt will be able to be software patched. That was the bigger part of my decision

Had this happen on my XS Max, not sure why it would drain and one day, it drained 10% overnight. I returned it and got a brand new one and the new only only dropped 4% overnight.

Just an update, I did a DFU restore mode, connected to iTunes, and reinstalled iOS 12. So far on day 1, no more huge battery drain in the morning (battery only dropped 3% overnight instead of 14%) but now I have the won't charge when idle bug. I'll continue checking for the next few days.

Wow, this is probably the best I’ve seen yet. Did you experience any problems prior to turning off ‘screen on’?
[doublepost=1538605782][/doublepost]My battery is awful. I’ve arranged to replace my Max with a brand new one. I lost 8% in around 16 minutes just browsing twitter.

I think I will also exchange this weekend. Really annoying. Mine dropped from 75% to 50% over the afternoon with total screen time of 50 mins, literally just responding to texts and checking the phone periodically. It’s at about 40% now with total screen on time at 2.5 hours, 20 mins screen off (Spotify). Reviews were saying conservatively this thing should get at least 8 hours??

Only other possible problem I can think of is that I get poor reception at work, so maybe that is drawing power somehow. Seems unlikely though.

Down to 56% percent after 2.6 hours of screen on time. Cellular service 2-3 bars at work. Is this normal or just awful?
