How accurate is coconut battery?

It says my MBP is 8 weeks old even though I bought it a week ago.
It also says that I have 95% battery even though I have only 7 cycles and have been using it for only 5 days. You guys think I have a bad battery?

Yes. Or maybe the Mac wasn't new when you bought it.

I bought it from the Canadian apple online store. Shipped from Memphis, TN. Soo it should be new
Battery must be bad.

I even calibrated the battery when I first got it.

Don't worry.

You MBP was manufactured before you bought it, then transported, stored, transported, stored, transported, stored, transported and then maybe bought by you.
That takes time. And coconut is not accurate all the time. My iBook G4 from 2004 is 28000 months old according to that piece of software.

Also 95% battery health is normal for some batteries. If you have read the thread, you will have seen, that some are experiencing that behaviour and that batteries don't indicate 100% all the time.

Have a look at you battery's health from now and then and see if it deteriorates in any way - getting only 81% health after only 50 cycles or something like that.

People, don't post words only, you can make those up. Post these instead:

After 3 years and 544 cycles, I still have 96% health. I've been very happy with my battery performance. I've also taken pretty good care of it. I keep it plugged in for the most part, and calibrate the battery every 2-3 times a year. Anyways, here's a screenshot from coconutBattery:

31 cycles, and iStat reads between 71-81% on my early '08 MBP. I took it in a couple of months ago to get checked, and the Genius check said it was okay. I figure I'll try again in a month or two if it keeps going down so fast. My original battery was replaced after 11 months when it got down to the 50% range.

Charge Cycle 29
Battery Health: 92% :-(

That sucks.
Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 5029
Fully charged: Yes
Charging: No
Full charge capacity (mAh): 5029

Oh well :)

13" Macbook Pro Mid 2009. Just got it in September, almost 2 months now.

Good news, I'm recalibrating the battery and it seems to be helping.

I guess I have the worst battery ever:

I think there is some kind of issue but I brought it to the Apple Store and that dude told me some stuff I did not really care about. To me, there seems to be a BIG problem. My MacBook Pro 15" early 2008 is only about 18 months old..

Macbook Pro SR, vintage 2007. Cycle count is inflated as this is my second battery, since the first rapidly depleted to 70% after about 3 months.

My Macbook, which I bought a month earlier is still at 100%. I had the same unreliable charge indicator with an earlier iBook.

98% after 17 cycles.

Personally, Don't put much weight on this stat if I'm getting good times out of my battery. It's impossible for a piece of software to tell you the EXACT condition of the battery.

example:
Someone said they have 544 cycles and the bat is 3 years old. But it still says 96% health. That means, that the battery should still be performing 96% of it's original capacity and to be honest, Yes I have my doubts that it is. I bet it's got a dip somewhere, where battery power drops gradually.
