Wow.

That Incase Battery case looks very well done.

I mean, it makes the phone bigger obviously.

But for power users, that might be a great accessory.

You should post that in the accessory forum if not already there.

Now that I know it's not just me  , I'm quite confident I am getting better battery life after upgrading to 2.2.

Panzer, powertalkers are one of the few legitimate battery draining groups I have noticed that really do have a good beef with this phone.

The sad thing is that since the iphone can do so much more (or so much better) then other phones, the battery life does go down because of it for people that talks hours a day.

First, kick your brightness in half, and see if that makes a good difference, I believe it will,

second, look into something like this:

It seems you are the perfect market for this.

Wow that looks great. I've got about $100 in bestbuy rewards. As soon as they have it, I will order it. Thanks

my battery life does not seem that much better. infact i seem to get about half the amount of time of the 8 gig i had right before. but i am new to the iphone world so this maybe exactly how it is. i just precieve it as so. does nayone else have numbers like mine?

I'm getting much, much, improved battery life from 2.2. Usually somewhere between two to three days on standby and 7.5 to 8 hours of usage. Wifi, 3G, Push, etc. all turned off unless I want to go on the net, and in which case either wifi or 3G goes on.

Huge improvement here with 2.2 .. beforehand I could barely rely on it to last thru the work-day and had to be real careful with usage ..
Now it's gone to over 23 hours standby (Needed to charge it but it still had about 50% battery) and I managed to use it heavily for 3 hours (playing Galcon mostly which was VERY battery heavy) ..
Very happy with the 2.2 update even if I don't understand 'why' it has made such a huge difference! lol

same here, noticing a huge jump in performance from the battery. no idea why.

i'd say it's lasting twice as long now

I've noticed an overall battery improvement. With that said, and similar to other users, my iPhone 3G simply died 20min after I had it plugged in yesterday. My battery was somewhere around 50%, I plugged in for a quick sync and left it there until the battery was at about 75%. Unplugged and went on my way. Roughly 20 minutes later I woke the iPhone up only to get the 20% warning, I was like okay... 30 seconds later after loading 2 web pages I got the 10% warning, just as I clicked "okay, or accept" the iPhone went into battery save mode with the red battery icon. Nice, so I fully recharged and used it all day today, and my battery meter went down about 3 pixels. Great life, but only after full recharges for me. I have never had anything like this happen before - strange.

I got my handset replaced a short time ago, just about the same time as the 2.2 update surfaced.

I don't know if it is the different handset that has made the difference, or the 2.2 update, but the battery life is certainly far better than it was previously. It grabbed this screenshot just before the battery died this morning. Handset has only had light use, but has had 3G and WiFi turned on the whole time :
