I'd ignore this thread. This poster has started lots of similar threads on the MacBook Air forum saying how bad it is (e.g. the i7 is pointless, it gets dented if you drop it).

People will complain about anything. You do realize that battery technology hasn't changed in a good 15 years. Sure there is Lithium Polymer, devices that use less battery, etc...but unless you have a gigantic battery, you aren't going to get the amazing battery life you're wanting.

There needs to be an advancement in battery technology for that to happen. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen any time soon. So instead of complaining, do something about it. Calibrate your battery, sell your device and get a phone with a gigantic battery, get a mophie case or just deal with it. If your phone is that dire to you, you should look into a dumb phone.

I can't speak for the 5 since I don't own it yet, but my 4S battery life is great. Now I really don't use my phone extensively between 6:30am and 4:30pm since I'm at work. However, by the time I'm heading home, my battery is still between 55-60%. I do use it heavily while I'm at home (Twitter, Facebook, emails, texts, games, web browsing), but by the time I go to bed at 11:30pm, I still have around 15-20% left on the battery.

They even made the iPhone 5 thinner. All those lost spaces could have been used for more precious battery life, but it seems that thinness is more important than battery life. From what I heard, battery life is the biggest complaint of every iPhone user.

It's thinner because they took away the glass back. I don't believe the internal thickness is any different. However, it's taller, which means they can give more height to the battery.

Where you gain by shrinking the die size when making the chips (greater power efficiency), you lose by adding more power hungry components (LTE capable chips).

battery life sucks for ip5. my ip4 battery life was wayyyy better. I barely use it through out the day, when I get home its like 20 percent.

My battery life on the iPhone5 totally SUX. I know it's not the phone. My iPhone4 was terrible when I upgraded it to iOS6. I fully charged over night........I woke up at 6am. It's now 9:59am on the left coast here, and I am at 44%. All I've been doing is making a few twitter posts, and listening to a few tunes. Not even stressing it very hard. They had better come out with an iOS6 update soon to fix this. It sux having to carry my only cable around everywhere I go because I can't find a flippin adapter. I've done everything. Turned brightness down, turned LTE off since I don't have it in my area yet. As someone said above, batteries haven't changed technology in over 15 years. This battery is larger then what on the 4 and it's performing significantly worse, but due to software flaws and not the battery itself.

How wide is the battery? I mean, they could've probably made the iPhone 5 as wide as the iPhone 4 and have twice battery life. Shame on them!
(I would've preferred that than having a thinner phone tbh)

Correct me if I am wrong, but For the past few keynotes, I have never heard of Apple saying "Dramatically increased in battery life". All I can hear is "It still has the same glorious battery life it had before", which isn't glorious at all. Let me give this to you frankly: The battery life sucks.

No matter what your phone is, no matter what it can do, it's crap if it has a horrible battery life.

What are your thoughts?

I can go a little over 2 days on my iPhone 5 with a single charge. Casual use. Heavy use, I get a full day and then some.

Battery life is greatly improved.

You CANNOT base your battery life as a whole. Results will vary depending on your habits. This does not include phones with defective batteries that drain or do not last longer than 5 hours. Just a rough number.

My battery life seems better than my 4S. It's only really Day 1.5 for me but I watched 22 min show this morning and only lost 3% battery life. Constant surfing will drain any battery though, but that's obvious... at least to me it is.

After a top off, I left the house at 8:25a with 99%. It's now 10:06a; Sent/Received 20 text messages, 1 phone call, some light surfing and checked email a few times. I'm at 96%. Brightness of screen is about 75% and LTE is on.

I say that's pretty damn good so far.

I'm not going to complain that the phone is too light but I accidentally pulled it off the elliptical this morning from the headphone cable because I was expecting more heft... I'm amazed how light it is every time I pick it up.

Considering the bigger screen, LTE, faster specs. I say they still did good with the battery life even though it's still the same as the 4S.

They still improved the battery but because of the new factors that the iPhone 5 has it kept it's battery life close to the 4S which is still good.

iPhone 6 will have improved battery life. I don't know if the 5S will.

You would think battery would be better than the 4 and 4s. Apple says they have better battery but yet get only half of what they claim. Typical apple just spouting numbers

Is there any connection to 'restoring from backup' and bad battery life? As opposed to setting up your 5 'as new'?
