After few days I’m relieved that my battery life is great.

My current usage is:

Usage: 4 hours and 12 minutes.

Standby: 13 hours and 3 minutes

My battery is currently at 70%, which is where I would typically be with my series 3.

Impressive

I’m at 72%
With 3hrs usage and 13 hrs standby

Just reporting in at the end of day one with my new S4. With the S3 I bought a month ago, I’d go from 100% to about 70% at the end of the first day after charging. I could go three full days and have 10% at the end of day three.

Now with the S4 today, I synced it to my phone while on the charger early this morning. Played with some new faces after first putting it on, and right now at the end of the day I was at exactly 50%. It does seem to drop battery quicker, though I don’t know if it’s just because I may be using it a tad bit more for the first time or because of the new screen needing more power.

I looked at what people were tinkering with and decided that switching off ‘detect gym equipment’ was a good idea as I would never use it.
And I have to say, battery performance is much, much better than the days previous.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have just deactivated mine!

They released WatchOS 5.0.1. The didn’t mention battery life but it’s surely worth trying to see if there is an improvement.

Lost only 6% battery life during sleep tracking. Slowly but surely my Watch recovers the old battery life I knew from my S2. Installed 5.0.1 as well! I guess more and more people are moving now in the right direction, that the battery life improves!

As I said a week ago, let‘s just wait a few days and we can see what is really going on!

There seems to be an improvement. Normally after a 100% charge before going to bed and using a sleep tracker (pillow) the watch would have 88% battery after 8hrs. This morning with no other changes other than the update, it was 92%. Going to see how it fares for the rest of the day but it seems promising.

Great news. I just installed the update and also did a repairing. I’ll report back later today.

That is pretty good. What options have you tweaked? How's your background app refresh look? Walkie talkie on? 3rd party apps? Watch face used etc.
[doublepost=1538118648][/doublepost]Could part of the improved life simply be the watch is learning.

Apple have always said that background app refresh 'learns' your habits so the data is always updated when you need it and not at other times. Chances are a new watch means it doesn't know your patterns so starts off just updating everything all the time.

It's supposed to know what you do and if you dont use an app it simply doesn't update it.

Now, for people like me who are constantly tweaking to try and improve battery is just never gets a chance to learn. Time to leave it alone I think

I tried to see how long i can go with one charge. Therefore I didn’t charge it in the night before yesterday and I realized that i could full two days with normal use. I think that the battery went down very fast for the first 30% but then the declining decreased. I charged it completely last night and installed the update. Now, with 6:20h of standby and 1:20 of usage it still has 89%!

So I can report that the battery seems better than i thought. I don’t know if it was the update or the calibration of the battery (full discharge and then full charge) helped, but now I am happy.

My normal routine with the Series 3 of sleep with it for AutoSleep tracking, take it off when waking and charge while I shower/get ready for work, and then have enough juice for the same routine isn't working on the Series 4.

It doesn't charge fast enough which makes me think they reduced the charge power?

I’m reporting back after repairing and updating my S4 this morning. I think my battery life may have improved a bit :

100% at 9:00
69% now at 20:00

However, I did not work today - which may also be a factor.

I’ll continue reporting this weekend.

Anyone else experiencing a difference since 5.0.1 ?

Reporting in on day two of my S4. At this point with my S3, from a 100% charge to midway through day 2, I’d be around 50%. With my S4 midday day 2 I’m now at 20% and concerned it won’t make it through the evening. I’d like to cycle the battery for the first time so I just plan on winging it tonight. Still on 5.0 also, didn’t update yet.

S4 here. Battery definitely improved after 5.0.1. Now it’s same as S3 used to be, which was very good.

Big improvement on my series four after the update. Over 12 hours of use and 75% remaining

Somehow I get ludicrous amounts of usage in my stats. Right now I’m at 2 hours of usage and 7 standby with 78 percent left. Haven’t really done a lot. Interestingly, my iPhone is at 81 percent and has been used a lot more.

Idk if it’s just me but I got 3 days of use out of my s4 before I had to charge it last night I think I’m getting awesome battery life

Since turning off 'detect gym equipment' and 'raise to speak'...

Usage: 8 hours, 39 minutes
Standby: 2 days, 2 hours
43% battery remaining

That’s some ridiculously good battery life.

I have turned off detect equipment and auto start workout but it still drains 2,5 percent an hour. Maybe raise to speak is the biggest culprit? Hope not since it’s a nice feature to have and actually use

Today I had over 6.5hrs usage and just over 22 hours standby with 43% left. Over 4hrs was hiking in the lakes with two GPS apps running (workoutdoors and Viewranger). I also had a sleep tracker running through the night (pillow) and the usual email management etc.

The watch had some heavy usage today so I was very happy to still have over 40% left by the end of the day.

I have switched off Gym Equipment and auto activity detect but I do have raise to speak and everything else on.

What is the actual "raise to speak"? I can't find that in my watch app... I could swear it used to be there. Did they rename it? (asking for a friend because I can't possibly be this stupid lol)
