I have a gen1 phone and noticed the battery life has gotten worse as well. I was looking here and found this post and thought maybe just me. I guess it is not just me but not very many if any others. I thought, well i have been using it more with the update. I will give a test over the next few days. I know that it was getting eaten up 40% or so after only a hour or so most of net surfing

The battery performance is the same. The only major difference is the fact email fetching actually works now, despite some claiming there wasn't anything wrong with it. Looks like Apple fixed a "non-bug."

Because of the problems I've switched to Yahoo push and never looked back. Same exact battery performance. And I'm jailbroken. No difference unless you don't know what you're installing on your phone.

my battery life is about the same imo. i'm sure now that fetch is fixed that's not helping at all :p i have no idea why some people are seeing "huge" improvements in battery life

How you calibrate a battery?

anyway @ op to me it seems normal, but you are right i fully charge at night and when i wake up its still full on the battery sign.

I have good battery life. Used for almost an hour on calls and half hour for mp3 and almsot half hour for web on Wi-Fi. I feel that battery has more life after upgrading to 2.2. BTW mine was the 1st gen iPhone.

Wow.

I have never seen that much usage on mine.

Hell, I would need 2-3 charges to get that many hours of usage.

UNLESS, it was mostly iPod usage, which seems to take little to no batter compared to data.

Nope, 2:10 total of iPod use. Only to fall asleep with timer enabled... :D

All my usage is 90% mostly WiFi and rest is phone & couple games for a tiny bit only. 3G is enabled as well, good signal in my area which it rarely switches to EDGE.

I did however managed to kill the battery a bit today. I had a cable outage in my area which = 3G usage for surfing the internet for about 35min. I'm down to aprox 30% with 4hrs usage and standby of 1 day 14hrs.

Okay guys... today my battery seems a bit better. I think I might have a theory about what happened Sunday night/Monday morning.

Since I didn't have 3G in my area until Monday morning, I bet AT&T shut Edge off during the middle of the night to get ready to boot up the 3G. My iPhone was probably on GPRS mode and since I have my email set to fetch every 30 minutes, it was probably trying to download over GPRS which would put more strain on the battery than EDGE or 3G. I didn't have Wifi on either, but I did have 3G turned on... so it may have been trying to connect to 3G all night as well. I'm getting much better battery life today as you can see from my screenshot. Inside at work, it switches from Edge to 3G A LOT so I turned off 3G until I go outside... seems to be making a difference. Thanks for reading my thread you guys!
