My battery life has been crap. No better than my 3GS at all.

I set mine up as a "new phone" from the get go, so I can't see what the problem would be as none of my old settings carried over (obviously).

Bummer. Hopefully a software fix will help cure my poor reception, poor battery and tingling fingers.

This has been a painful upgraded. Literally.

My third full charge. Was plugged in for two minutes to transfer video

I went to bed last night with 74% battery.. woke up with 72%. Is that too much for it to be in standby or does that seem right?

mine has been doing very good. everything is on except bluetooth and i have 2 push email accounts running

So what are you doing with your phone? Cause recording video with flash is different than just browsing on safari or doing little things like that.. right?

That's definitely fine. I'm losing 20% per night.

Wow yeah.. something is definitely wrong there. You have done a clean restore of the phone? If you have done that.. and its still doing that.. I'd take it back to the Apple store and get a new one.

Think it would be helpful to do a clean restore right after I recalibrate my battery? I bought a iphone 4 on day 1, then charged it and the battery has been "okay", but dies quickly. I'm down to 17% now 5h 36m on usage, and 8h 8m on standby.

Would it be okay to restore the phone right after my battery dies (i.e. while its charging back to full).

Anyone think it would be a problem to restore + calibrate charge at the same time? I'm at 1% battery life...

Yep, I've done 3 complete new restores already. Still losing 20%/night in airplane mode with no exchange or email accounts, wifi off, etc. I'm going to go to an Apple store if this isn't fixed. I'm worried they won't have any replacements in stock :/

Mine would drop 50% charge overnight...while powered off! Apple replaced it today. I tried all the software tricks you all have mentioned. A replacement seems to have done the trick. I'll let you know tomorrow.

BTW Mine was at 10% when Apple first unboxed it on Launch Day. Today's new iPhone was at 100% when unboxed. It has been suggested that this is a good way to tell if you may have a bad battery. Just a theory...nothing definite yet. Anyone else with battery issues have the same experience?

My iPhone 4 kicked my 3GS's ass in battery life, like insanely! Well that was not proper english but just to show my point.

I can make it from being fully charged at 9am to about 50 percent at 6pm, with screen brightness at about 85%, wifi on, 3G on and normal use!

I can easily make it through a day on one charge, with normal to excessive use!

The battery in the IP4 is definitely about 40% better on average!

That's crazy! Just to confirm, you leave 3G on right?

And what brightness % do you use? Is your usage just web/texting type stuff or more 3D games and video?

Are most of those 14 hours just iPod use or something? Otherwise, I think you somehow got a battery from 5 years in the future. Magical.

I upgraded from the iphone 2g. I've had it for 3 years and the battery life is incredible. I can use it heavily for a day and still be above 50% life - and this is after 3 years.

That being said I am not as happy with the ip4 battery life. My ip4 battery doesn't last nearly as well as the other posters in this thread. I am going to officially test it's battery life right now and I will get back with the results.

Yeah 3G was on. And I do have the brightness set almost all the way down

major improvement on battery life on the iPhone 4 compared to the 3Gs if you ask me.

I had to plug it in to transfer some video files.. so thats why it says that..

But this was after recording video.. I dunno how much.. Maybe 15-20 minutes max.. cause I was deleting afterwards of not getting it right.. also used the LED light with all of the video. Also took some pictures.. did Facetime.. browsed through wifi.. angry birds a little bit.

Is this about normal compared to what you guys are getting??

I know its better than my 3G for sure.. There was no way I could use the phone for over a day with web browsing. .playing games.. and I couldn't even record video..

I'm not happy with my battery life. I'm wondering if i have some app or runaway process that is draining battery.

I've barely used my phone today at ALL...it's been on standby..is this normal?

I've run the battery down to where it turns off a couple times already and then charged it up for hours to calibrate and break in the battery. Better to be paranoid since my 3G battery was so bad.

I still keep the same tactics on the 4: brightness 1/3-1/2 depending on location, turn off BT, checking email every 30 minutes, and turn off 3G when I'm on WiFi at home and at work. In standby mode, the battery life is really good.

Bluetooth is a battery hog though. You can watch the percentage go down fast. Makes me want to use the wired headset a lot more in the car.

Yes, to all 3 posts above me, I'd say that's pretty normal. It's going to vary depending on if you've trained/calibrated the battery yet, how much your push apps are being used, whether you're on wifi or 3G, and a host of other factors. Honestly locations services on/off won't make much of a difference if you're not using location apps. But around 5-6 hours of normal usage is what people seem to be getting. That's nearly twice the usage of previous iPhones.

Judging by the screenshots, I'm the only one with this problem?
My "Usage" and "Standby times are almost never more than 5 minutes apart, even overnight.
I try to shut everything off including possible apps running in the background but no to avail. I would post a screenshot but it's fully charged right now (plugged into the USB).

Thank you! I plan to calibrate it tonight.
