Ok, so at the beginning while jailbroken and with only tetherme, I got six hours of usage, with all settings that the phone came with on (location on everthing, iads, push every 25 mins. etc.)

Then I added the different apps at almost same time. I went down to two hours. Then I removed ten, now I'm getting exactly 4 hours.

My location has not changed (I'm in the same house,) and since I turned off most of the settings including push, I would expect to see at least six hours or more because of the disabling of certain things.

I didn't get to really see the amount of battery usage saved or not since after the disabling of location etc since Respringing deletes battery usage, which I didn't know of.

Now I have learned if I wanted to more cydia apps to add a cydia tweak/app one by one in the future.

I use mainly use tether me since that was my main reason of jailbreaking. I kept that along with 3G restrictor and springtomize because I use them. I have not deleted the others just in case they are important to cydia. So in short, realistically I'm trying to see if I can get at least the six hours prior to adding the other tweaks.

Well, if you had everything turned on when you got six hours and then got four hours with everything turned off, that could actually in and by itself be a reason you're seeing shorter battery life in terms of usage...

Every time your phone does something in the background, even when it's locked, it logs under usage. So since the stock settings have all these location based services turned on (for instance), and usage with the screen lit drains much, much more battery than usage with the screen turned off... Well, yeah, you'll see "less" usage on a full charge because the phone is not running background processes when the phone is locked ;)

----------

By the way, have you checked the phone's active processes in for instance Instruments? The wife had problems with her battery life for a few days, and when I took a look I saw there was an e-mail in the outbox that was constantly trying to be sent... I removed it via the web interface of the mail provider and everything was solved.

In that case, resetting the phone, restoring, whatever wouldn't have worked because the error lied in the e-mail account and not in the phone itself...

That was the first thing I deleted. Didn't help then deleted about ten others. Went from two hours to my now four hours.

Not sure if you were using the beta repo for bitesms that recently added the feature of "chat heads"? That version also installed a program called Weeloader that just killed my battery. I went from getting 8 to 10 hours of usage to 5 to 7. Not as bad as you but 33% extra drain was very noticeable for me...

Bitesms has been the 1st tweak for 4 years that I would install after a jailbreak but now has been sadly removed. Whenever I install something I always take a picture of what installs along with it as in this screenshot.

I just purchased Messages while not as robust I haven't had any trouble with battery and it's back to normal.

This pic is of iFile and the dependencies that automatically installs with it.

I was getting subpar battery life, maybe 3 -3/12hrs since jail breaking my iphone 5 a few months ago..

The only things I really install is bitesms, springtamize, 3G unrestrictor and google search tweak(replaces Siri as your default assistant)

I uninstalled all but 3G unrestrictor, and I also uninstalled activator which I had no idea all these years that it does affect your battery.

Anyway , installed the 5 column springboard tweak as that's the only thing I really want from jailbreaking, with 3G unrestrictor a far second. The rest I can live without.

Battery life is up to 4-5hrs now, this is all on LTE also, I do not use wifi at all since I have unlimited still with Verizon and want to abuse the hell out of it :D

On wifi I am sure I could 6hrs usage.

Glad you experienced better battery PP I used Icleaner so Im going to see if it works, because I like the clarity of youtube videos with 3g restrictor and tethering to my computer since I do not have internet at home as yet. My lte has been off from the start.

I had the latest bitesms. Glad yours is normal as well.

I had bad battery too. just from texting and standby I would be at like 81% after only maybe 30 minutes of actual usage. Since I'm in school that's HORRIBLE. What I did was do the ilex r.a.t thing to delete all my packages and start over again, from the looks of it I'm getting way better battery time but I'll know after today. Maybe it really could be activator. Maybe not.

Okay great, keep me posted. I used Icleaner and got five hours yesterday. Can't wait for Os 7 to come out.

Just for fun, try turning on the location services and so on that you previously turned off and see what your phone reports in terms of usage...

my battery is doing better, it drained a little overnight but maybe that's from all the texts. I deleted activator so that improved it even more. I believe the themes that have the dates and time on them are bigger battery drainers.

Location on took an hour away leaving me with four hours #

Have you already charged it and worked up four+ hours of active usage? Impressive ;)

Well, if you're such a heavy user then my assumption would definitely be wrong :) I was thinking the background processes during when the phone was locked was gonna add to your usage without really draining the battery. But your phone doesn't seem to ever be locked ;)

Yes. I don't like to charge too often. I didn't charge last night so this morning I had about 60%. So before I left I charged to 100 percent and went on my errands. Thing is I don't consider myself a heavy user (playing games/watching videos or movies) except for today while listening to about an hour of music in total for today.

As far as my usage its a continuous. Standby would be very high if I paused. Either way I've still seen some amazing usage times and standby times from other iphone 5 owners. Didn't think it would vary per phone especially if the settings is about the same.

Anywho I will just deal with my hours or do a restore and hope it helps. Thanks for all the help everyone.

The thing is five hours of on screen action on poor 4G reception sounds pretty decent. I get five hours out of my phone on 3G (a bit less when I'm not on wifi), 7-9 hours on 2G and wifi. Reception makes a HUGE difference, it's not even funny. In an area with bad 3G reception, I can lose something like 20 percent every three-four hours on standby just because the phone is constantly stressing over keeping the signal.

Many people who post ridiculously high numbers are in either the group of people who use their phones very light and have something like two days worth of standby time, meaning background processes make up a large part of their total usage, or people who listen a lot to music with the screen turned off.

So the 8 hours that was stated was based on signal quality etc ?

Yes. When products are being tested, they are being tested under extremely good conditions. They want to see how well the products do under the best of conditions to be able to boast with large numbers. They're not gonna go somewhere where the 3G reception is two bars and then use that as a benchmark... They won't even use the logs from the extensive real world testing to give ACTUAL real world numbers. Which is a shame...

try this stuff out

hi,
I notoced more battery life after i installed a tweak called Carnitine, its amazing, u should just configure it right when use wifi and when to close it.
this is about that tweak www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8x0o5b2Gn4

Also, check in Setting/Siri and desactivate raise to talk, that one drains a lot of battery.

If there is no change in Battery life, install "Ilex rat" from cydia, you can restore and clean your devise from anything that may be the one draining your battery. Just read the instruction before u apply it, especially applying clean all option in Ilex if u have a tethered jailbreak or the unthetered one.

If you still unsatisfied with your battery, i think its a hardware problem, call apple co, and they shud give you a new phone after u service it of course.
