Thanks for the answer, vPrime. Are there any drivers issues I should anticipate or can i basically run it with only the software updates microsft has provided me?
Well I just bootcamped today and i'm having trouble installing AMD drivers it says "amd catalyst mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware software on your computer" when I try to run it, any suggestions?
I am playing the beta, and i run everything on HIGH settings, I never tried ultra because I dont want to push my mbp, also I am using the regular drivers for the GPU, I dont think upgrade them would make any noticeable difference.
But if everyone upgrade please post some info.
I am using and early 2011 MBP with the 6750m GPU.

from what i heard, Ultra settings haven't been implemented in the beta, and that setting it on high, and setting it on ultra will not show any discernible difference.
I was having the same issue as well.
After some Googling, I came across this thread.
The difference was night and day after installing the drivers in the thread above. BF3 beta was essentially unplayable on the drivers that Apple supplied. With the updated ones, I could run a mixture of high/ultra settings on my early 2011 MBP w/6750m.
I had to use the drivers that the game suggested or it wouldn't run. (catalyst 11.10). The install was painless.
yeas I was running it at 2560x1440. When I started everything was set on high already. I don't remember the exact settings sorry, and I am in OSX right now.
My brothers i7 sandy bridge imac with the 2gb video option also played the same on the same settings.
Hi guys,
I've recently bough the early 2011 15" MBP 2.0ghz with the AMD Radeon HD 6490M (256mb). I've been scouring the forums to find out how BF3 runs on this machine, but haven;t found any (most people commenting on the next model above with the 1GB 6750M GPU).
Can someone pleeeeease let me know if BF3 would run on this machine and how badly it does so. Much Appreciated
Thanks
I finished the campaign yesterday on my 15" 2010 i7 with GT 330M 512MB. I had it hooked up to a 1080p monitor. Played at 720p (1366x768) and auto settings (put everything to low). After overclocking the GPU slightly i could turn on a couple mediums.
It was steadily at 30 fps.
Thanks for the info. Just to confirm, is it still playable without overclocking the gpu? Will it still run steadily at 30 fps with all low? I have the same spec'd computer as you.
Yeh it does. Especially if you play on your built in screen and at 1280x852 (or what ever the setting is)
If you do want to get a little more performance, Download nVidia performance tools. Officially from them. I just overclocked the card to the technical factory settings (575MHz, 1265MHz, 1066MHz) The card in the MacBook Pro is underclocked by apple to 500MHz, 1100Mhz, 790Mhz so it consumes less power to save battery. So I went to the original and designed clock speed. I have overclocked to this a lot over the last 1.5 years when playing games. So it definitely doesn't create any problems, I thought if the card was originally meant to run at that clock speed then what can go wrong right.
Hi all
I have been watching the BF3 developments with interest, as I love nearly all the BF series...
I am looking to buy the 2011 27" iMac 2.7Ghz... do you guys reckon BF3 will run ok on it?
or would I do better to spend more on the 3.1Ghz model as it has the better GPU?
I just really don't want to have to get a Windows PC or a copy for my Xbox 360the Xbox won't work where I am moving to (they block the Xbox Live from working on the internet) and I am fed up with Windows 7!
Thank you for the detailed info. Might even try and overclock. Now i've just got to sell the PS3 version that i rushed out and bought and buy the PC version![]()
Just look at this thread, look at all the results from all those posting which have a 1GB 6750M. Expect pretty much the same results. Maybe like 2-5% better.anyone have any idea on how well this would run on:
1080p or 1366x768 (I'll be playing on a 32" TV that I use as a monitor on my wall for logic...I can down the res if needed)..
My set up:
MBP late 2011
Win 7 64bit
2.4ghz i7 Quad
8GB RAM
Radeon 6770m
What sort of fps can I expect? What drivers should I update to? Is there a guide on this?
Thanks![]()
