Bought a 13-inch rMBP ($1499 model) from Best Buy on October 25 for $1349.99. The 15-inch rMBP is $1699 (including $50 off education) + I have an extra $35 reward certificate from Best Buy = $1664+tax. Is it worth spending and extra $315 for a 15-inch/Quad-core rMBP? I'm currently a graphic design major and looking into this offer, I still qualify for a return/exchange since I'm still under the 45 days Elite Plus.

Apple store is matching the price. I think my wallet might be lighter this weekend

Did you go to the Apple store or call them?

I've called them twice and both times they've said they can't price match it.... ugh

I used the online chat at Apple.com and they said that you have to call 800-MY-APPLE to talk to one of the Mac Sales Experts about the price match.

She said that if they agree to the price match, you could place the order over the phone for in-store pickup.

I haven't tried it yet, but was considering giving them a call later this afternoon since I will be by an Apple store tonight.

Thank you for the info. Let us know if you get the discount via 800-MY-APPLE and can pick one up at the local Apple Store.

best buy excludes laptops from shop discover if you read the fine print - sucks i know! you're probably better off buying from B&H to save on tax

Thanks for pointing that out and that does suck. Well, I can't cancel my order now, but will just return it. I'll keep the one I got via my EPP Apple discount because I am happy with the screen. No enough savings difference since I got a good screen the first time out.

My local store wouldn't price match without a printed quote with company name on it! Talk about a hassle to price match, keep in mind, this is the business team I deal with!

I just left the Apple store having received $250 refund on rMBP that I bought 13 days ago. There was some confusion amongst the employees but they did it, after 4 of them -- including manager, huddled for ten minutes in the corner.

You pull up the ad on www.bestbuy.com right in front of them in the Apple store - that's what the employee did for me. Talk to manager if you have to. Demand they match.

I know, many people here does not like to shop at BB. If your local store won't match it, why not buy it from BestBuy? You will get the same Apple warranty from Apple if needed to.

Anyone get the education discount on top of this? Or think you can get the education discount with this?

The only reason why I have to go through Apple instead of Best Buy is because I need the 16GB configuration.

Can Apple price-match a 2.6/1TB configuration? Or does it have to be exactly the same as what Bestbuy is offering?

Has to be exactly the same. Apple will match it via the model # which is universal and referenced by Apple and BB.

FYI I got the discount today at Apple retail.

I did this exactly this am. They were happy to PM BB on the 15in model with in store pickup

Or if you are lucky enough to live in America you could think yourself lucky that you are already paying 1k less than the rest of the world and stop being greedy.

How is it "greedy" to not want to pay more than you have to? If you're envious that our tax structure is a little less oppressive, that's fine, but it isn't a good reason to disparage us.

I wouldn't call it greedy. It's a marketing strategy, it's what stimulate the economy, it's what the business is counting on. it's a tradition, it's a very fun one, SHOPPING!!!

has anyone used it with Education Discount?

I am wondering if anyone has PM the 15" model and received further discount through be a student/teacher?

Also note, some of the sales people will try to tell you that they cannot PM. I tried calling yesterday through 800-MY-APPLE and the guy told me he couldn't PM because it wasn't the current model. I wasn't able to be online at that moment so afterward I discovered he looked over the $2349 price and was telling me it was priced at $2369 which is the OLD model, sneaky sneaky. I will use that info to buy the laptop from someone else.

I called MY APPLE this morning and they price matched on the $2,599 15" down to $2,349.99. I placed the order over the phone for in store pickup. Took a while on the phone, but not because they were trying to say they could not match, just making sure they had the details of what I wanted correct and placing the order.

I tried calling MY APPLE again this morning and they did price match, I let me know exactly what I saw, I think the guy from last night was confused. However, they will not add on top of discounts, which makes sense.

Also (I know not going with the thread, but in interest of saving more money as a student/teacher)..if anyone is interested and is a student/teacher you can purchase Adobe Creative Suite 6 (CS6) for $249.95 of $349.95 depending on which programs you want, but if you do this you can not price match. Still a really good deal and can only be done when you purchase the mac (it appears only over the phone and perhaps in stores), otherwise it is $449.95 or $599.95, so that $50 I was not able to save because I wanted to buy the program didn't matter for me.
