So it was back again last night for a rerun, and every bit as good as it was the first time round. Cannot wait to see the next 6 in the series in a few weeks time

Thank god I recorded it on EyeTV. Incredible shots combined with the brownest voice going. Fantastic TV.

Did anyone else think the polar bear was shot at the end? According to Svalbard law you're not supposed to kill a polar bear at all, yet you're required to carry a rifle around with you. Wonder if it was any different on Kong Karls land? Just the way it ended "Get the gun...".

Don't know if I'll watch the next one. Just as I didn't like the Gobi desert one from the last 6 episodes. I like my snowy places :D

It is on again tonight I think.

Are these definitely reruns? I only caught it half way through last time round so it'll be good to get caught up.

Imagine if it was in HD.

Aha, great content that's available in the UK and not available in the US! :D

iTunes movies, tv shows and latino sections grrrrrrrrrrr....

These are definitely brand new and yes, repeated tonight. Slightly adapted I think for a younger audience.

What a great show Planet Earth is. Although I don't like how emotionally involved I sometimes become with it.

"Go Mr. Polar Bear, you need to kill that Walrus to survive!" :)
"But the Walrus is gonna die! Don't kill it!" :(
"Yes, the Walrus got away!" :D
"Dang, Mr. Polar Bear died of starvation."

That's life though.

Oh, and if any of you non-UKers want to see the first season of Planet Earth, it's available on Amazon.co.uk, but bear (Get it? ;)) in mind that it's gonna be Region 2.

They are reruns. I think there are 12 in the series in total, they showed 6 of them a while back, now they're rerunning those 6 before showing the 2nd 6...at least that's my understanding

I think they did run them in HD (it was all filmed in HD) on the BBC HD channel on NTL/telewest cable HDTV service. Wish I could have seen it!

Wow, just watching the repeat of yesterday's programme on BBC2.

That poor camaraman filming those penguins, having to endure minus 50C temperatures and hurricane-force blizzards

Amazing stuff.

I've recorded this current episode. I'm not all that interested in the plains. Give me deep oceans, forests, mountains and cold places. Watching this in 576p is very nice indeed :D but more importantly - the colours. I do believe this is the only show/game/anything that I've ever had any desire to see in a higher resolution.

The lions attacking a fully grown elephant was baffling. I never thought they'd be able to take it down. And what about that fox nicking the poor geese chicks? Poor little things. :(

To be honest, I didn't think this episode (the plains) was as good as previous ones. I'm looking forward to the Tropical Rain Forest and Deep Ocean episodes.

Did you see the elephants and lions yesterday? Incredible footage.
I thought it was pretty gruesome and sad but that's nature for you.

I was stunned they could take it down, but it was what, about 30 lions and 1 elephant? Even the camera crew were a bit put off by it but it was unusual footage and, of course, well done.

The problem with Planet Earth is the un rose tinted view.
I have to put up with the missus wimpering and squeaking all the way through the programme.

It's bloody nature!!!
Animals have to eat too and some of them have to die!

I did feel sorry for the polar bear though, poor little bugger...

Oh wow, this time-lapse footage of fungi in the rainforest is quite spectacular! :)

Those chimps gaining new territory was simply amazing stuff. Its tv like this that says we need to keep the BBC at whatever costs.

Wasn't it, though! Plus the plants race for sunlight. And the trees growing!

Fantastic, if a bit gruesome - just like the lions and elephants in the previous episode.

This type of TV programme is what the BBC was invented for. Utterly awe-inspiring and humbling.

I've been particularly enjoying the diaries after each episode. The photographers and producers have shown amazing patience and talent in capturing the footage.

I know that I'm 'gushing' a little ( ;) ), but wow!

fantastic, as usual. (I like the not so subtle puns they throw in too) and who didn't see the fungi growth as a little bit phallic?

the disease that the insects developed grossed me out severely however. that thing growing out of the ant's head. <shudders>

I <3 the BBC! :D :p

This may sound like boasting but...

The Polar Bear episode (well, the bits about the Polar Bear) were filmed by my Uncle - the wee Scottish guy. In January I went down to Bristol to see him and he took me into the post-production place for Planet Earth - it was amazing watching them do it.

And my Aunt produced the episode about the shark (I think anyway, I talked to her when she was away filming sharks for Planet Earth).

Yup, it's awesome.
