VoD is free for 'selected' programs shown in the last 7 days (i.e. the same stuff available on iPlayer.) Hang on... *just goes and plays with his telly*

Hmmm, there are older shows available (Balamory, Dr Who series 2) are free because I am a 'subscription payer', I don't know what the subscription means, I guess that's part of my £30 a month package.

iTunes is a different model, it's offing it in a hand-held or computer based package and on demand whenever, wherever. If that's what you really need then £1.89 might well be worth the cost. I've currently reached 31 years without such a need (although the other day I was in a strange town looking for a shop without knowing the address when I declared "I need a bloody iPhone" so maybe I will reach an epiphany on that one too!)

Yeah don't get me wrong I think that free catch up TV is great and hopefully should be on iTunes soon. The point i'm making is this is great because in the future we'll be able to download great tv programmes which are special to us as individuals and which we want to keep forever. We'll then be able to watch them on our iphones/ipods if we want or on our apple TVs (which is now finally getting some good content in the UK). This is a good thing. Hopefully we'll get an iplayer on itunes soon, but if these TV programmes aren't a success why should the BBC waste more money on the ungrateful mac crowd.

Because I choose not to buy DVDs in the shops, does that make me one of the 'ungrateful DVD crowd?'
I'm skeptical, not ungrateful.
I actually think they might make a bit of money from this, I'm just saying it won't be mine.

There are advantages to being the meat in the UK and the US's sandwich: in Ireland we get the Beeb for nothing. :)
