I have have a hunch that even if this comes to the UK we will still have to pay. It's just a hunch though. Remember, the BBC do charge for DVDs..

i agree it is very slow and not all the links work

I guess it takes a while for all the content to get released across all their servers.

Hopefully the mac iplayer solution is basically a twist of the itunes rental model and we can put them on our pods?

That would be an excellent model to have:

for free as catch up service for 7 days and then purchase to own.

Wait wait so.. Windows users get bbc shows for free download via iPlayer for a limited amount of time, but mac users have to pay for the shows via iTunes for a limited amount of time. Plus we have to pay £120 tv license fee every year. Ermm. WTF!

No, the most likely model is:

1. Old stuff on iTunes - download to keep, pay for it. This exists now, in fact (as of tonight anyway).
2. Stuff less than a week old on iTunes - download to rent for up to 1 week, free (similar to the existing US iTunes movie rentals and equivalent to the iPlayer app). This doesn't exist (yet) but has been pretty heavily hinted at by one of the iPlayer team.

So the US doesn't get this content then I'm guessing since I see it in the UK store but not the US store.

It might appear tomorrow. With Torchwood, they have the most recent episode that was shown on BBC America (#4. Meat) but not the most recent episode from BBC2 (#5. Adam) or the most recent from BBC3 (#6).

Some content might show up in the US Store and update on the oldest schedule (BBC America).

Plus there's the 2008 OSCAR nominated short movies - live action and animated.

Now, if only I had a job and could afford to...;)

Bit weird, you'd think they would want to make the money. Oh the complexities of distribution rights, will it never end!?

I'd love to know what the US thinks of Little Britain?

Nice to see the Mighty Boosh on there! Hopefully Series 3 will be on iTunes soon, especially because of the 'Eels' episode. :D

apple uk news page

Some of the best TV programmes from BBC Worldwide are now available on the iTunes Store. The most recent series of ‘Robin Hood’, ‘Life On Mars’, ‘The Catherine Tate Show’, ‘Little Britain’ and ‘Spooks’ can be purchased for £1.89 per episode; while the latest episodes of ‘Ashes to Ashes’, ‘Torchwood’ and ‘Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps’ will be available for for purchase and download eight days after they are screened on TV. [Feb 19]

interesting

Never really watched it. Is it worth £1.89? :)
Do you mean that specific episode, or The Mighty Boosh as a whole? It is a very unusual, surreal, abstract type of comedy, so you will either love it, or not 'get' it, and therefore hate it.
The Series 1&2 box set is only £15 at HMV by the way.

We pay tax for these programs. We deserve to have them all for ourselves. :)

If you want good TV shows, get your own tax-payed TV station xD lol haha jk :p

Well maybe its time for the uk to have some stuff before the US for once? Its always the UK coming second.

I concur!

Now let's hope Channel 4 copies BBC and puts Peep Show, IT Crowd, Father Ted, etc. up on there :D

Edit: Bring on Red Dwarf, Bottom and Top Gear!!! :D

The DVDs are available to rent through Netflix. The first season was excellent! The second more or less a repeat of the first but it was still good. I haven't yet watched the third season. Was it any good?
