My reason isn't on the poll: 64GB

This is my reason. I've always been behind the Apple philosophy of having your music wherever you go and not just able to stream it. I listen to music all day at work a d having 64 GB is a god send for me. That's less than half of my total music collection but I now have more of a selection.

Mainly Siri, but there were a few other mitigating factors:

1) My wife had a 3Gs, and doesn't care for the latest and greatest. Since she will pretty much always be OK with the non-latest model, we could upgrade and not worry about losing upgrade eligibility. I used my upgrade for the 4S. My wife got my 4, sold the 3Gs to pay for the upgrade. When the 5 (or whatever they call it) comes out, I'll use my wife's upgrade, get the 5, and she'll get the 4S. Sell the 4 to pay for the upgrade. Repeat for every new release. :)

2) I had been very close to full on my 16GB iPhone 4 for some time. Going to the 32 GB 4S has been nice. :)

3) I'm a photographer. While I rarely shoot with a compact or compact type camera, always carrying my big camera kit, I had been using my iPhone 4 quite a bit for casual snaps and trips/outings where photography wasn't the motivation. Having a higher quality camera is always a plus. This has been a +/- thing after getting it. The 4S camera is very good within 10 feet in good light, but it's pretty bad for landscape shooting (distant subjects are horribly mushy and noisy).

1) have been using Android for 2 years and wanted to switch it up.

That's about it. Slightly disappointed at the lack of a change in design though. I love the build quality and aesthetics of the white.

My reasons for upgrading (i.e. what I knew/believed before I had it): speed and 64GB. Wasn't too sure about Siri and doubted I'd use it much.

Reasons I think the upgrade is worth it now (having used it for a few days): speed, 64GB, Siri/voice input (turns out I that I really like talking more than typing :)) and (the pleasant surprise) it's a significantly better phone (I can actually hold it and make calls in my office, which I simply couldn't with the 4). There are some little improvements too, like it doesn't clip off the start of sat nav instructions over Bluetooth in the car (this could be an iOS5 vs iOS4 thing though) and the speaker seems louder. I haven't really put the camera through its paces yet, and anyway I was pretty happy with the iP4 camera (in good light conditions at least).

Overall, I'm really very pleased with the 4S.

The reason I upgraded isn't on the list. It was to make money...yes I said it. I sold my iPhone 4 for a profit and completely paid off this phone and then some. Will rinse and repeat every year. I don't care if what the specs are or price because I know I'm going to get my money back anyways.

Faster processor and better camera. Plus, I can't stand knowing there is a better iPhone out there than the one I'm using.

Sprint user and I had been thinking for some time on switching from android to an Iphone, when they came to sprint it was an easy choice for me. Like it alot so far.

Your missing a poll question,

* upgrading from a 3GS contract end!

Not because its falling to bits, because it isn't, its actually fine, I'm just coming to contract end, so getting the latest iPhone possible :)

Here, here
Me too :cool:

I upgraded from my 3GS, but not for any of those reasons, specifically. I got the 4S because:
a) it has a much better screen than the 3GS, obviously;
b) I take a lot of pictures with my phone, so the 8mp appealed to me;
c) I love the design;
d) I had an upgrade available and just enough left over work/graduation money to cover a 16gb;
e) I really wanted iOS 5 but wasn't confident enough to put it on my 3GS, despite the reports that it ran fine.

I probably could've kept my 3GS for another year. That little guy is still going strong. But I just wanted a new, better phone, and I could afford it, so why not? :D

Because I had the money AND can't stand not having the latest and greatest (along with my daughter needing a phone so she got my 4 and I used her upgrade to get the 4S, leaving another upgrade available to me next year when the 5 comes out! :) )

Combo of;

-iPhone 4 home button faulty but out of warranty hence no fix without paying
-Good trade-in price offer which I'd never get again
-Its the iPhone that came out in the period of Steve's death (piece of history)
-Antenna fix, speed, and other bonus features

None of these options really fit. I upgraded for three reasons: better camera, wanting to get rid of my 3GS and wanting to get rid of my Droid X. Basically, I wanted to carry just one phone that would meet all my app needs (like the 3GS did) as well as my photography/video shooting needs (like the Droid X sort of did). The 4S just happened to fit the criteria, and considering the fact that I was able to sell my old phones for enough money to pay for a new iPhone plus have $170 in change, well, it just made sense to upgrade. I won't be getting whatever the next iPhone is, either. I'll just hang onto my 4S for a couple of years.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

None of the above. I'm coming from an iPod touch, so mainly for the 3G internet, seeing as it is my first smartphone.

My 3gs was running slow and I was up for an upgrade and 199 for 16 gigs isn't a bad price. I would have opted for the 32 or 64 but I really don't need that much memory.
I'm very happy with my 4s.
