So I don't get the problem here. If the people complaining don't like what Apple Music is playing then listen to something else. I'm not especially a huge fan of todays hip hop, but if I tune to a channel that is not playing what I like then I can listen to something else. There are other options. I don't see the need to bring up what Steve Jobs was all about and what Tim Cook is doing wrong...
This is half the people here after hearing one hip-hop song on Beats 1:

It's very simple. Where's Apple's focus on?

It's not about 'don't like, play something else' but about Apple's way of destroying what was great and nowadays boring if not completely meaningless.

Maybe Steve Jobs just had more balls to be bolt and therefor better products came out of that?
Steve Jobs is dead and Apple is a business. They care about making money not about keeping things great but I respect your opinion.

Here’s an idea.....maybe Apple should have different live radio stations if they want people to listen. With at least 60 percent of their music being hip-hop, you’re going to eliminate a huge chunk of your subs not wanting to listen to Beats 1. I’ve never listened to it live. Because all it is stuff I don’t like. Make it more like Sirius or something. Also the radio tab needs to have more than just most recent stations I’ve made.....why not keep every station I’ve made.....like pandora.....or like iTunes Radio used to do. All apple has to do is make minor tweaks to functionality to make it truly amazing for everyone.

Apple bought Beats. Beats. I’m not sure why anyone seems surprised by this news. It’s Beats and its image has never been anything else, really. Even the headphones and earbuds are tuned for this kind of music.

Dude wants to promote hip-hop for Apple around the world, and Apple is giving him this opportunity, hey, go for it. If people in Japan don’t like it, they won’t listen to it and that will be the end of that in Japan.

I just don’t want to hear anybody mouthing off about “cultural appropriation” when the J-Pop and K-Pop bands start doing hip-hop albums. If they haven’t already started. He is after all, promoting this music to everyone. It’s a gift from one community to the world.

Personally, I liked their gift of R&B, Gospel and Motown best. I’m unapologetically old. :D

All this hippy hoppy music is crap, why don’t you listen to something really classical like Mozart or Mendelssohn or Motörhead

Well thank god for that since hip-hop is so egregiously underrepresented on Apple Music.
Yeah ... it's why I switched to Spotify. I'm no longer being slapped in the face with rap and hip hop recommendations. I've even had rap and hip hop songs come on during stations that had absolutely nothing to do with either genre. That and collaborative playlists are currently nonexistent on Apple Music.

Beats 1 is still going? Wow. Does anyone know if Apple Music still completely messes up the album artwork? I’m still finding wrong artwork from when I ditched my free trial at launch. A bigger mess for me than Apple Maps is

Completely agree with You.
Cultural appropriation - is a joke - and you nailed the reason for it , if you promote it, j-pop and K-pop will copy it . Complain to the ambassadors.

It's big here in Canada, too.

But don't tell me there's no terrible Deutschrap. I know you guys are capable.

Yes there is but it's far from dominating the music scene. Some of it like Fantastische Vier is even fine to listen to.

I must say though that I feel Apple Music has improved lately. Today most suggestions I get are fairly relevant to what I like.
Massive improvement over the last year.

Hip-hop is so yesterday. This new leadership makes me feel Apple Music even more irrelevant. I use iPad Pro for music and audio processing heavily. And I don't think hip-hops are very inspiring for the future of music.

Let's create ****** products which are extremely overpriced. (and only get more expensive every year so Apple can keep shareholders happy)

Meanwhile someone in the background... "let create a silly radio station and ask money for it!"
Sure why not? They already destroyed what was great about iTunes decades ago.

Only thing I want from Apple nowadays is them making OSX available for all systems (not just their own) and let other companies buy their 'pro' applications cause clearly Apple doesn't care much.

I PAYED 2500,- FOR A 17" MACBOOK PRO 8 YEARS AGO.
Today Apple can offer me a tiny laptop with twice the price tag which can't be upgraded or repaired easily. F that!

a 17" laptop is overkill and a waste of money for the company producing it because it's a very niche market. At that size, you might as well get a iMac. The point you are missing is that eight year old laptop still runs well although it can't get the newest MacOS version. How many laptops from competitors still run well after 4 years? Not many especially when they are enclosed in plastic.
