My gf already wants these for Xmas. If they make a starwars edition..I'll pick those up as well.

OR… you could put a bloody sticker instead.

A Sennheiser HD 202 cost 20 bucks and has better sound quality.

The only interest I have in this story is making sure my 7-year-old daughter never sees it, or I will be a much poorer man than I already am.

My lil girl would absolutely love these but I just can't for the price. She won't take care of them or wouldn't be able to find them within 72hrs.

Plenty of stores in Japan selling nothing but Sanrio merchandise, including a big one right under Tokyo Station. You routinely see 30-something women sporting Hello Kitty items, not to mention hordes of younger ones. "kawaii" is important to many Japanese women, and some men. You even see hardcore tuner cars sporting the damn thing.

They will sell enough of these to put a healthy dent in the cost of the acquisition.

I was wondering if Jony Ive would take over designing the next generation of Beats headphones but yeah... I don't think Jony wants anything to do with this.

What's the big deal? Lots of people like hello kitty especially in Japan. Get over yourselves.

I don't mind Hello Kitty and I know how popular it is. That's not the issue here. Apple has made a name for itself for its discriminating, high-end, minimalist, clean design. Hello Kitty (and Beats, of course) is not on the same level.

Needless to say, Apple definitely seems to have lost its way. The world has suffered a terrible loss with the death of Steve Jobs.

With Hello Kitty Beats headphones, Tim Cook's coming out party, fashionable Apple watch, fancy iOS interface, and very strong vibration on the IP6, Apple should move its hq to Castro and change back to the rainbow colored Apple logo.

The only thing Steve would care about is people bringing up his name like you did in macrumors posts.

Beats is free to make whatever headphones it wants, Apple isn't going to get in the way of their operations over a hello kitty paint job.
