I just knew Fox News was going to weigh in on this.

No, it's just people that are sick and tired of these losers that don't contribute something positive to society that rely on so-called music that really doesn't offer anything. There are plenty of musicians that grew up poor in the ghetto where they learned how to sing and/or play a musical instrument that have legitimate talent and/or learn how to speak the English language and study and become someone of substance, that don't put out music with THUG mentality. Our society would be MUCH better off without that element.

Ebonics is probably spoken more than English in the US and it's astounding that our country can't seem to do anything about the root of the problem because Rap music certainly isn't improving this situation, it just perpetuates ignorance and immature behavior and some of us are sick of THEM making money when they aren't making it in a manner that's positive. That's MY beef.

If someone tries to pull the race card, I'll show you plain denial and ignorance. it has NOTHING to do with being a certain skin color. It has to do with what they are selling to make the money they are making.

I always suspected Sean Hannity hung out on this board. Thank you for providing a tea-bagger point of view!

If you check your history books you'd know that similar things were said about rock n roll in the 50s and 60s because "you know where that sinful music comes from". Btw that was code for African American music. And even before that, the same was said about jazz, which, btw, has similar roots. So, yes, YOU are in denial.

Well to be fair, all of the things that the people of the time were terrified would happen if rock 'n roll was allowed to flourish, did happen.

Yes I've owned two pairs. Not recently though, so maybe they've improved their sound.

The Beats headphones are in fact junk. Have you seen the abundance of Beats Studios with broken hand bands. They snap very easily. The Solos are even worse.

meh.. we could go back and forth on this all day long.. "they're junk" --- "no they're not"...etc
but if beats headphones are junk, what do you guys call junk headphones then? (and are apple headphones 'junk'?)

The reason why there are more kids out there seen in the wild wearing beats is because many of them listen to hip hop and that's what the beats are tailored to. They have heavy bass, period. No real natural sound to the original recording.
you mean hip hop or just about all popular music being created these days? it's all bass heavy, no?

in the meantime, here's some j dilla beats to test your beats..

I already told you what I call junk headphones. Beats Studios and Solos have poor build quality, even the Pro's are made up much of plastic. The Solos and Studios have broken multiple times. I've gone to Best Buy, Apple and various other retail stores that carry these models and every single one of the stores had a broken pair. I just saw a guy yesterday on the street with a pair Studios with electrical tape on the band. If you have a larger head don't waste your money. Common stretching of them to fit over many heads have caused them to snap. They use vinyl rather than leather and as far as sound, they are muddy and focus more on bass rather than natural sound. They Studios cost $300 and the Pro's cost $400. They are celebrity-endorsed which ups the actual worth of these headphones dramatically.
The come packaged in a beautiful box with Dre's face on it and nice case to hold the headphones. You're paying for most of that.

In my opinion, for the Studios alone that cost $300, you're getting a $50 pair of headphones in a marked-up celebrity-endorsed package.

Answer this, how come I can spend the same money and get a MUCH better quality pair of headphones in Bowers & Wilkins?

BTW, Apple doesn't make headphones, they only make earbuds.

Also according to Fortune's website the most admired list is determined by "executives, directors, and analysts" not the general public.

kinda what i was getting it but when it comes to defending apple (or whoever) nobody cares what metric or source they use.

its been interesting seeing your posts on these threads. i assume you realized what me and others on here have been questioning about apple for some time

this is the same type of question which gets asked ad nauseam re:mac vs pc..
you probably like macs (assuming since you're posting here) so you're going to justify the cost and/or say they're not junk/ripoff.. but the other guy is not listening to you.. in his head, macs are junk.

point being- do you think there's anything productive that can come out of this type of back&forthing? i said i don't think they're junk headphones.. you said you think they are.. let's leave it at that, ok? otherwise, we'll just keep saying the same exact things over again with no difference in results.

So in other words you can't answer the question. I thought so.

At least I was able to give you a straight answer and with facts and points.

a straight answer to what? the only 'answer' to any of my questions in particular was saying apple makes earbuds and not headphones.

People need to stop repeating the falsehood that Beats are somehow good headphones for listening to bass heavy music like hip-hop. If you want a strong bass heavy headphone there are soooooooo many better options. Get a set of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro-80s or try to dig up a set of Sony MDR-XB500s.

Oh, you didn't ask that question up above? I gave you a straight answer as to why the Beats are junk headphones why they are considered junk. Sorry if your eyes aren't working well and you didn't see that part which was in the same post as my response to the Apple "headphones".

All good though, I see you have quite a defense for them. You must own a pair and it's bothering you to hear what I had to say.

Also if you decide to reply, I'll keep a look out for a thumb up on your next post. You seem to have a thumb up on many of your posts even though they have made no points. I wonder how that could be? hmmm. ;)

right.. if beats are junk, what do you call junk headphones then?

All good though, I see you have quite a defense for them. You must own a pair and it's bothering you to hear what I had to say.

lol.. 'quite a defense'.. pretty sure the only thing i said is they sound good.. maybe overpriced put not junk [paraphrasing]

i don't own anything by beats.. i have a couple of friends that have their headphones, buds, and/or a pill and they're all good..

i personally own 4 speakers which could be considered competition to beats.. some $99 bose computer speakers from 10yrs ago that still work well.. sony noise canceling headphones which i use while flying.. apple's earbuds which i use for walking around because of their size, and i just recently got a UEboom for the job site.. did a direct compare with a beats pill and liked the boom better so i got that.

so no, you saying 'beats is junk' doesn't bother me from any sort of brand loyalty pov.. what's sort of annoying though is you looking for an internet battle with someone who doesn't give a crap about your opinions.

Also if you decide to reply, I'll keep a look out for a thumb up on your next post. You seem to have a thumb up on many of your posts even though they have made no points. I wonder how that could be? hmmm. ;)

lol.. you just make things up then try to fight about it? funny, i thumbs_upped the last guy doing the same thing.

Oh you don't give a crap about my opinions? LOL. You keep responding to everything I've said. Apparently you do. And this IS an internet forum for sharing opinions and posting facts, which I have. I don't look for people to fight with but you stated the Beats weren't junk and then you asked what do I consider junk headphones. All of your posts deserved a response.

All good though, you still never answered my question. Obviously you couldn't. Have an awesome weekend. :)

This the first time I really really want to say "Steve would of never let that happen" Beats are like the cheap android phone's of the headphone industry. This is a very disappointing move, sigh. WTF were you thinking Tim, this is your first major fail.

Agreed!

It's amazing... Fried chicken is a southern thing. Last time I checked there are a lot of white people in the south.

Drug dealers? Most of the dealers I know are white...

Ghettos? Every race can be found in them.

Hmmm...

I am happy for Dr. Dre. It's amazing that he went from NWA to hip-hop's first billionaire. Personally I like iTunes Radio, despite the overall interface issues of the iTunes application but I am sure that Apple saw room for improvement when they compared it to Beats' streaming service.

How much money does Jay Z have? lol

If you think the thug subculture doesn't exist and its soundtrack isn't rap, you're either blind and deaf or a fool.

I've read more than once, that the majority of people listening to rap are suburban white kids.

Apple as a company is changing and venturing into new fields where certain products can be delegated to Beats for example. Everything that Beats makes now fits nicely into Apple current and future product lines, nothing will go unused.
Here is how I see Beats integrating with Apple while retaining the Beats brand.

1. The Beats Music contracts are probably very good and will enhance iTunes or remain under the beats brand. This alone can pay for this whole deal over time.
2. Beats headphones and earphones will augment Apple's existing offerings and remain under the Beats brand.
3. Beats speakers can be updated with iOS and AirPlay for an enhanced feature set and remain under the Beats brand. (Sold with Macs and iProducts)
4. Beats Audio can be added to Macs, iPhones, iPod, AppleTVs etc...
5. Beats Audio will also integrate very nicely with CarPlay to offer a whole end to end package and remain under the Beats brand. Car makers are probably asking for this already, Beats is very small in this field now but CarPlay and Apple engineering resources can propel Beats to new heights.

CarPlay under the Beats brand would be huge for Apple.

Pretty much on point.

Actually no. In the US the majority of teens prefer iPhones to s?s.

However about 73% of black teens use android over iOS.

So it is more like targeting specific growth markets through the purchase of wildly succesful companies.

If this is true I would have expected bose. Seems more in line w apple and their target market. Bose and sennheiser are not for sale but bose makes way more sense than beats.

I see your point and I agree, but I still cannot fathom at all why this restriction is there? Why won't apple let an app developer write a global EQ? I'd code the app myself if apple would just lift this completely arbitrary restriction.

Lol it is not arbitrary.

In the insecure world we live in today, apple's strong stance on sandboxing has been a huge positive.

Claiming it is arbitrary and unnecessary makes you ignorant. Apple's sandbox security benefits many more people than your desire for a global equalizer.
