Woohoo another app I can't deleted taking up space. Pretty soon I will have more Apple apps hidden in a folder than the ones I use.

----------

I don't get you. Appreciation? For what? If one is paying for a premium device one should get basic options like being able to delete nonessential apps. I like Apple products, but that doesn't mean they can't be improved. Hell, even the atv works better w it you can at least hide completely the apps even though they still take space while in an iOS device you have to stick it in a folder. somewhere.

Btw spotify is the standard so Apple wil have to scale and beat the standard. In other digital products Apple tends to be the creator but not on this and will make it very hard to dent an universal product.

What's 'non-essential' to you is 'essential' to someone else and would be a customer support nightmare if it were removed. Is it really so much work to move it to another folder? I imagine they're not really taking up so much space.

In most digital products Apple tends NOT to be the creator. Nearly everything they do is the result of seeing a good idea that isn't implemented well and doing a better job. This is true of the iPod, iPhone, iTunes Music Store, iPad, etc., etc. It's incredibly rare for Apple to be first on the scene--they're a details company.

Dear Apple... Stop the Madness!

Dear Apple:

We "users"... We hardcore (formally) Apple loving "users" BEG you to stop the madness!

Stop forcing us to take up the limited storage space available on our iOS devices with the overwhelming bad software you call "Apps". PLEASE stop telling us that we have to use OUR technology the way YOU want us to; stop taking away OUR freedom to enjoy finding our own way on these devices that (used to) enrich our lives.

PLEASE PLEASE... Give us back the creativity that was so prevalent in the original MacOS and iOS. The systems that let us "Think Differently" and be "the crazy ones"! Yes systems that saved us from being stupid by saving our data but still allowed us to control all aspects of the look and feel of them. OSes that while, with each new release, advanced the usability and structure, but never took away aspects that many MANY users used every day.

There was a time, long long ago, when Apple created the "Human Interface Guidelines" a set of 'rules' for developers that, at their core, were about the human experience. Definitions for developers that helped them create applications that gave control to their users; standards that allowed users the freedom to find their way. These "guidelines" showed developers, that just because they may have found a better way to do something, they should never discount the users long life of previous habits and experiences.

Many of us here think it's time to, once again, give us back the full control over what we install on our devices and WHAT WE DONT!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... Help me to remove my "Crap" (things I will never use) folder from my phone:

Stocks
Apple Maps
Health
TIPS (WTF)?!
and even
Game Center

and now you are going to force "Beats" down our throats? BTW I paid you for a phone with "X"GB and I want access to all of them (less the amount need for iOS).

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE >>> STOP THE MADNESS!!!

customer support nightmare for a paid sub app lmao lmao. you delete it and then if you want it again you download it from the app store. how hard is that? and like i said they don't even give you the option to hide it properly like you can w the atv. fanboyism is strong w you. also, e are talking about who created standards not who was first to the party.

If Apple can lower that cost from $9.99 to $4.99 and integrate it into iOS in an elegant way, they will have two very significant advantages over every other streaming service.

Experience + Price + Convenience = Winner

not necessarily, look at the match and radio services by apple, they haven't really taken off and they are cheaper than a monthly music service by them. hell that is why they spent billions on beats to try to get a foot inside the music streaming service.

How is being able to delete an app a customer support nightmare? Enlighten, please.

I always get a chuckle out of this...as if you the consumer have any right to dictate what Apple include on the iOS device.

Your lack of appreciation for what you have is astonishing.

What the...

I have a right as a user to request functionality improvements that I believe would enhance user experience. I actually greatly appreciate my iPhone, thank you.

But you're too busy being condescending to see the point.

You haven't done a lot of tech support, have you?

Seriously, I've worked a help desk. You know why there are so many jokes about tech support people asking if the customer has plugged in the computer, or turned it on? Because people will literally call in and the computer won't have any power.

This is cutting that off at the pass. Just because you can do it doesn't mean everyone using the device can. Smartphones are arguably more accessible than desktop computers ever were, so you can bet that people that aren't very good at understanding tech still have smartphones.

I can *write* applications for the phone, so yeah, I understand how to put an application back on the phone. My mom? Not so much. This way I never have to teach her how to put the music app or maps or whatever back on her phone if she accidentally removes it. I like it better this way.

you said 'nightmare' which means horrible cs issues. i'm sorry that you work in cs, but deleting an app takes more knowledge than installing an app from the app store and you should know this; especially more since you can only download apps form the app store exclusively. hell, actually using a sub based app is harder than re-installing an app from the app store.
\
her would be a cs call: i deleted/lost my music app,
you say go to the blu icon that says app store press search and download it. put password and done. max time would be 10min if the person can't recall their password. to delete an app takes more knwoledge, hold the icons, press x then confirm you want to delete it.

Well, I don't work there anymore. ;)

But yeah, I don't know if you've ever seen the Apple store and their genius bar...it's packed with people that have lots of trivial concerns. This is Apple removing a few trivial concerns from the queue. 'Nightmare' might be overstating it on a small scale, but I can imagine that of all the people using their phones even a fraction of them having trouble like this would cost Apple a lot of money. Customer service is hugely expensive.

I tried all of the paid services and Rdio is my favorite right now. I was on MOG, but Beats dropped so many of the useful features ("continue play", "radio slider", easily accessible new releases, the desktop app, etc.) that I had to go with another service.

If they would add back those features and add Siri integration, I would go back to Beats. Also, being able to use the app as a Desktop app remote (which Rdio has had for a long time) would be nice, too.

I wish Apple would allow you to delete apps you do not use, preach it drbroom.

If this supplants iTunes then I'll deal with it, provided I can still up/download music I purchase. The last thing I need is another app, taking up space I'd rather use rather than lose. I paid through the nose for this phone so...

Hey, if Apple wants to put apps on my phone, fine. But I want the following:

10TB cloud storage free

free bump in iPhone size, ie 32GB to 64GB at no extra charge

25% off future Apple product purchases as long as I maintain the Apps on my devices

Even the Nike app you can hide, but it still takes up space. I wish we could just delete apps.

No no no no no

For Gods sake Apple stop forcing things on us U2, Game Centre, Stocks, Health & Passbook just some of the crap you force us to have. It will back fire on you one day Apple.

One of the articles I read on this subject (The Guardian) said that they believed Beats would be integrated into the Music app that we already have on iOS.

Another app to join my "crap" folder. Apple need to stop doing this and make all of these extras apps optional to get from the app store. It's just burning space on our devices, yes it's not a lot, but to some people it makes a difference when you add up all the extras that the majority of us will never look at, let alone use.

2 something that exists as a standalone application for no other reason than to let apple try to flog you their own additional service thats in competition with other similar service providers.
Sorry, what is the reason of the iTunes Store app if not to let Apple trying to flog their own additional service (for purchasing music and movies) that is in competition with other similar service providers (it is not as if only the iTunes Store would offer music or movie purchases)?

Or in short: Why is an app that let's you purchase music ok and one that let's you stream music not?

Of course, by definition, everything you don't find useful is crap. How dare Apple not consult you first before making their product decisions.

Yeah, for every 12 MB app you want 32 GB in extra storage. Sounds fair.

Ok... Its one thing to put something in an OS I don't want at all. Like podcast for an example. BUT its a completely different thing to put something in to an OS that you must pay for to use. And its not even a one time payment. Its monthly or yearly or something like that. That's not cool. You can't do that...

Nothing new, iTunes Match is built into iOS and you have to pay an annual fee to use it.

Will any of these bundled music apps play FLAC format music files? I'm looking at getting an iPad, but I'm using Clementine on the Mac and on Linux for FLAC and other formats, plus Spotify for streaming.

and do you really think that deleting the stock, tips, gamecenter or other non-central apps (That and this stupid U2 album?) from the phone will create some scenario where a genius bar employee or other Apple tech can not successfully troubleshoot an issue with the phone?
It must not have been a terribly technical support job you had.

Here is the thing, most iphone support calls begin and end in Settings>General.
