No offense, but where do you shop these days? If you buy them at an Apple Store, Amazon, or Best Buy (or pretty much any other major retailer in the US), easy returns processing is just assumed.
Not from the US and wasn't sure because it would be kinda nasty to return these after having had them in your ear.
But thanks :)

I don't believe Amazon would allow them to be returned for free. They will charge you a shipping cost and deduct that amount from your refund. Certain clothing items are listed as free returns, but general merchandise is not.

I plan to buy them from Apple or Best Buy just in case I need to return them for fit.

I do wonder if that's all true though. If the beats branding was replaced with Apple branding, would we really see a sales decline, or revenue decline? I'm not so sure that would happen.

When if comes down to it, all this really is is cheap labor produced foam and plastic fantastic sold with insane mark ups. That's the difference. There's nothing truly groundbreaking or magical about beats, it's just the same stuff coming inside the same shipping containers but with different packaging and pricing.

Head phones weren't invented just yesterday, the technology has decades of history. All that's really changed isn't the technology but instead the marketing story.

My $16 no name super streamline bud earphones perform just as good if not better from my listening point of view.

Which beats do you own? I would bet anything your $16 headphones do not have the same quality as my studios when wired or wireless.

What the heck do you need special font for?

With Amazon just tell them you got a defected pair. They give you a free shipping label in that case. Any other excuse for returning them, and you get charged to send them back.

Unless they are waterproof I cant use any cordless headphones. Have had to return multiple pairs of water resistant models including Bose and Beats as the controls stopped working properly after a few weeks. Guess I sweat more than the average man.

No it doesn't. Even the average consumer won't be scrambling for Apple earphones. That's the whole reason Apple acquired Beats for $3bn. It wasn't for Beats IP or tech, it was for the brand. I have never ever heard anyone demand Apple audio gear, hence the Beats acquisition. Beats is a fashionable brand that attracts the kind of consumer Apple wants. Apple with Beats audio is a dream team for Apple's marketing department.

Even with the AirPods it's a case of consumers wanting to 'give them a go' as they are Apple branded and 'cool looking'. No one ever said "OMG, Apple earphones!!!! They must be amazing and the best earphones ever!".

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Beats brand is good for some demographic; that is correct. But the major reason Apple purchased Beats was actually for the streaming rights and relationships, not earphones. They did it to create Apple Music.

Since Apple's brand is way more valuable and far more widely associated with high quality than Beats, the OP's comment stands.

Also, I believe that Apples AirPods have been estimated to have dominated the wireless earphone sales over the holiday season. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That post you replied to has no support whatsoever ever and is untrue. Some like to post throwing mud and seeing what sticks. There is no evidence behind a $16.00 pair of headphones.

I prefer this style of design to the AirPods (with the loop that can go behind your neck) but assumed the less elegant / more practical design would be a fair bit cheaper than the AirPods. Guess I was wrong there.

I like the idea of the cable - both being more secure if they come out of your ears, and also allowing space for inline remote controls. But on my current Backbeat go headphones, I find the cable can still tug the earphones out of my ears if I twist my head, or they get snagged on my shirt collar. They do have a grippy rubber/silicon coating on the cable though which might be the main issue.

So I'm hesitant about whether these would be any better.

I use my Airpods every day. Especially during my weightlifting. I'm contemplating purchasing a second pair. That's how much I like them.

But they are not sweat proof? This is my main issue (next to trying to also cancel out the trashy gym music) ... waiting for some dedicated sportPods ...

True. Apple could improve the water resistance rating. Although, I have not suffered any issues thus far during work outs.

Probably wrong. Here in Europe they were in limited supply and the website still quotes up to 6 weeks for delivery. However, like you I do expect them to sell very well especially when they add a black version/alternate colours.

Anyone know what time on the 10th the Online Apple Store will start accepting orders and if they will be available at the Apple Stores on opening day? If it was already answered on the comments I apologize... It's been a long day!

I have no idea, but I've set my alarm for 2am California time just in case. I'm gonna be ready!

Mine arrived today!

Yeah I know, haha. Just wanted to see if there was any logic there, but he did not respond.

Funnily enough I just picked up some Amazon cheapo special bluetooth headphones (SoundPEATS) which have more than a bit in common with the BeatsX in terms of styling.. and they even have magnets on the back of the driver units so you can click them together as demonstrated in the little BeatsX advert clip which has gone around. They seem to work pretty well so far with the cable round the back of the neck and so far they seem pretty well stuck in my ear.. despite wearing a few layers most days when walking (it's cold out!) they've not been yanked out yet.

TLDR

Are they starting preorders at midnight or what time?

Some guy on eBay sold 84 pairs of AirPods for $400each, a profit of about $15k.

People paying $400 for a pair of AirPods they could pick up for like $160 if they just wait, is insane. People have more money than sense.
