According to something I read next Tuesday, you can start by reaching avatar status, choosing a hot actress that you know you'll never get for your tar and have some funny pics to post as standard replies to inane posts.

After closing a thread where the OP clearly stated that he did not have access to the router, nor was it his, but he wanted to be able to use P2P through the router that he could not get permissions to do so.. a small email battle ensued. I was polite and explained my position, but it finally ended thusly:

I am a bad person. For closing his thread. That was all about how to circumvent security for P2P. How DO I sleep at night?

wait, what? i tried to use p2p with a router i don't have access to? i think piracy is terrible and i am sitting right next to our family's router? i've never emailed you, let alone had an email battle with you. when did i say this: "Listen, there will come one moment in your life when you will realise that you cannot treat people like this.
You are bad person and I am sorry that I even tried to change something.
I am not satisfied with you answer and with your attitude.
And you wore write in one thing: It is really end of discussion!"

i am SO confused!

He's not talking about you...he's not a mod here. He's talking in general about how being a mod isn't all it's cracked up to be by relating a story from a different forum where he is a mod. Relax.

it's just hard to tell what people are saying sometimes online
You get used to it after a few years around here. You bring up a good point though. To be a moderator you have to be able to understand things from many different perspectives. If you go deleting posts because you didn't understand where the poster was coming from, you won't be a very popular mod. ;)

Offering yourself is the kiss of death. :p

You can almost be sure that you will not become a moderator here if you say that you want to be. It's also a good sign that you're not all that trustworthy, either. :D Did I say that last sentence?

Sorry it took me a minute to see this - I was answering all of yellow's PMs. ;)

There is no need to be a demi, although I think most mods were originally contributors because, as yellow mentioned, they tend to look for some longevity, and people who have been here a while and help the site tend to become demis/contributors (not always, but often), so mods tend to be drawn from the demi pool.

The process is invitation-only.

I circumvented the standard route by making a $100,000 donation directly to arn, but I can't promise that will always work. Even with the money, I had to put on a goat suit and record a dance for him. Something about having an embarrassing video of me so I never leak out how he got the funds. Ooops...

Anyway, your enthusiasm is well appreciated if perhaps a bit premature. :)

LOL!

To be honest as a mod on other forums in my past life, one should be careful on what they ask for. Mods can take more than their share of grief for the work they do, usually for FREE! It can also mean limiting your involvement in the forums.

Personally, I think you have enough on your plate with PhoenixOS to get into modding too.. that is a neigh-full-time job (with no pay or benefits).

Low Blow:D :p

But if you have to ask, its not happening

Also hear that being a Mod is not as fun as it seems, makes MR more of a job, then a place to hang-out(i would guess) A job with no pay might i add:rolleyes:
