Hi,

I originally jb my iPhone 4 to achieve the installation of Siri.

Why ? because Apple said i couldn't have it and it wouldn't work on my iPhone 4.

Now we all know theirs no truth in that so after a coupe of minutes of jail breaking, installing spire and paying for IMZDL's proxy, Siri was up and running just fine.

After the whole new world of having my iPhone operate as i wanted and not how apple wants to sandbox everything I've downloaded a few tweaks to further enhance my usage experience with two themes z|ui and Noki HD installed.

No lag.

I once disabled all my tweaks and turned off my theme to see if i would miss them, and thought how bland the stock phone is after using it enhanced with the jailbreak !

Choice is a wonderful thing so i say each to their own.

Happy days.

I recently started removing a bunch of tweaks I realized I didn't need because my battery life was taking a hit. Winterboard, intelliscreenx, gridlock, icon renamer, and a lot others. I am much happier with battery life and performance now that I removed several things.

I'm still using bitesms, springtomize, lockdown, activator, infinifolders and infinidock and honestly don't think I could get rid of any of these willingly. With the way my phone is set up now I'm getting great battery life and no lag so no need to go to stock.

Yep i was a regular Jail breaker but it becomes a pita after a while having to set up all my cydia apps after each update. Since ios5 ive gone back to vanilla and tbh im not missing it as much as i thought i would.

What are you referring to here?

Even after the recent update to winterboard some are experiencing some form of lag. I get slight lag which goes when I remove winterboard. Yes my two themes are full paid for ones.

I assume some are also getting lag from tweaks but I've not been affected by that.

The degree of lag on mine is minute !

I was a non-jb since day 1 of jb. That's how gangster I am. Then jbroke my 3GS, skipped jbreaking my 4 and recently jbroke my 4S just for swipeselect then swipeshiftcaret and ncsettings. I don't really care about changing my carrier name to my DJ name or any of that BS.

Ah ok, I've not really noticed that and have a fair few tweaks.

But just to answer the original thread question, I only joined the world of jail breaking a couple of weeks ago and love the way the devices can be customised. Yesterday, I restored the phone to stock in order to take advantage of a factory unlock from my provider and only manged to live with a vanilla phone for about 8 hours!

With me it's a slight delay in opening up say my calendar or text message apps.

Some have a slight delay when swiping to different home screens.

I had terrible lag when opening folders and app switcher. Usually about 8-10 seconds to open a folder that contains approximately 30 apps using infinifolders. Without winterboard it takes only one second now.

What are you referring to here?

Lag, as in fail to maintain a desired pace or to keep up w/ stock. This is just fact and previously, as an orthodox JBer I had oversight w/ this but not anymore.

I shall miss BiteSMS, LockInfo and the 150 or so US$ I spent in Cydia but not the lag

So by removing winter board (and of course all of its features), the Jb lag problem is solved?

In most cases yes.
It can be down to cracked apps and tweaks too so only use paid for ones.

i just don't want to trade my themes for no slight lag !

What did you spend $150 on?

JB it's easy on 5.1.1 using abstine (spelling) and install infinidock, NCSettings, BiteSMS, folder enhancer, springtomize and mane lockinfo and try it for a month. My bet is you will love one of those tweaks and miss it badly if you go back to the stock iOS.

If not no harm done just unjailbreak.

Yeah, I'm thinking it was a combination of infinifolders, the icons being themed and the folder/switcher background being themed. But even with infinifolders and the same amount of icons in the folder, it opens very quickly now.

I also had the issue with moving between springboard pages lagging, which is one reason I tried to avoid multiple page setups and prefer to use infinidock instead, no lag with it.

Now that I removed winterboard I enjoy my phone ten times more because I don't see and try to justify any noticeable lag. Yeah themes are cool, but I finally got to the point were I prefer functionality over style.

Are you on a iPhone 4S?

WinterBoard runs fine on my 4S with no lag but I don't use any of the infini apps.

I love infinifolders and infinidock! I could never get rid of them, but was easily able to drop winterboard.

I used to use both on my iPhone 4 along with winterboard and never had lag, makes no sense it would lag on the 4s, it's all good now though.

Me too! I would not give up my JB like the OP, just too many good tweaks that Apple leaves out. But recently, I did give up winterboard and theming, and I'm totally content with it (although I did do a few tweaks using springtomize so my screen doesn't look generic).

Yes I've done a few things with springtomize as well as changing springboard badges and a couple other things manually. Enjoying it much more than winterboard =)

I used winter board on my 3GS years ago. It's just too much of a hassle to get that obsessed with icons and custom this and that for something that is basically trivial in life. Springtomize gives me a little customization without making me take too much time out of my life to find or make an icon for my kindle app for instance.

Been there done that. Came back after a miserable experience with android and the QC of the phones.

I can't speak for the quality of the phones, but ICS doesn't bother me - I find it quite usable.

I don't think jailbreaking will get squashed though, so I'll likely stay iOS for my phone. :D
