Hay thanks guys. You all just gave me a lot to digest. I am buying an iMac today. With all of your future help I feel comfortable about this change.
Thanks again.

Congrats! FYI:

Apple Store Genius bar can transfer data from your old computer to new computer. The stores also provide free workshops.

Documents

Since I only have two Docs. that I use, what version of Microsoft office for Mac or Xcell should I buy. The new version is about 125.00 the older is about 60.00. Is there a big differance between the ol and the new?

A couple of things:

1) There is a Mac version of Picasa. You can move your pics to your new iMac and keep using the program you use (and I assume, like). iPhoto is pretty sweet, though; but I believe that I actually prefer Picasa on my Windows 7 PC to it (haven't fooled with Picasa on the Mac too much, as my MBP is my "work" computer).

2) If you only have one document that you're needing to use the spreadsheet for, you've got two decent options. First, OpenOffice is free - try it first, obviously, before you pay for anything. If that doesn't cut it, try Apple's Numbers spreadsheet program - its $19.99 in the Mac App Store. [Is there a free trial available? There used to be...]

Have fun and enjoy! But be prepared to buy another... and another... that tends to be the way it goes. :) BTW, we're a family of three (well, almost; baby girl will be here in August) and we have the MBP, my Win7 desktop, two iPhones and an iPad. And the sad part is that that doesn't even begin to compare to some of the others here... :D

Thanks. I love saving mony.

Picasa is a Google product. If you're not in a hurry, you can always create an account for the online version, and just upload all your photos to it. It is integrated in Picasa desktop. Then you just download them after installing Picasa on the new comp. Would be much slower than copying the files, but you'd have an online backup.

Just installed Microsoft Works for iMac. Where should I put my Works spreadsheet. Word-power point- excel- outlook- messenger - or documents.

Perhaps you mean Microsoft Office? Microsoft Works isn't available for Mac, and the tools you named are from Office.

Excel is the tool that handles spreadsheets.
