Okay, I decided to post a review mainly to get this company's attention. There are some pros and cons to this bumper case, and the company should fix the cons. Also,
I think a plastic version of this case should be made. More on this later.
RECEPTION:
You first have to know that my 4S is unlocked on the T-Mobile network. I have noticed that without any case, antennagate still exists (3-4 bars will drop). I have bought 2 iPhones -- one from Apple's website and another from Apple's retail store -- and BOTH do the same thing. This does not happen with any other iPhone on any other carrier, so this leads me to believe that antennagate has not been resolved if you are on T-Mobile. Why? I have no idea, but it's really annoying and is a main reason why I started looking for a case (cases resolved antennagate for the iPhone 4).
With that said, the Graft Leverage bumper case fixes my antenna issue. The Mindplar i+Case does not, but the rate of bars dropping does is not made faster (if anything, it seems slower, but this could be a placebo effect).
Since I am on T-Mobile, I can not say if reception issues exist if you are on AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint. If anyone has this case and is on one of the three Apple-authorized carrier, please let us know how your reception is.
Also, if this case was made with plastic, there would absolutely be no reception issue with T-Mobile. Like with my plastic Graft Leverage case.
APPEARANCE:
You've already seen the photos on page 1. Here are more:
http://www.mindplar.com/matal1.htm
Here are mine:
Taste is personal, but I think this is by far the best looking case. I like the Graft Leverage as well, but I find it to be a little too chunky and bulky for my liking. The Graft Leverage does garner a LOT of positive comments though (I do have the chrome lever, so the shine does attract attention though); we'll see how the Mindplar i+Case does in public.
QUALITY:
The attention to external detail is what really makes this case appear to be of exceptional quality. Just look at these integrated buttons:
I really love how the vibrate switch lines up flush with the top lateral line. This is what I call great design. In my photo above, the switch is set to have sound; if set to vibrate, the switch now lines up flush with the bottom lateral line.
I also got to say that I really love the rocker style volume buttons as well.
All the buttons feel great as well and are really responsive.
However...
We've established that the external quality is amazing. One of my gripes is that while the edges of the 2 halves of the case completely overlap out of the box, when applied on the iPhone, this is no longer the case (no pun intended). The tighter the screws, the further apart the overlap, so I made sure not to tighten the screws too much to minimize this. Note how the edges are nice and tight in the corners though -- that is because that is where the 4 screws are.
The designers may not have taken into account the way aluminum bends/warps when it is tighten. Obviously, adding screw joints in the middle of these edges would keep these edges completely overlapping, but that may detract from the appearance too much. Another alternative is to use a stiffer metal that won't bend as easily. Or a really stiff plastic.
Or maybe, the case isn't cut big enough for the iPhone, hence the bulging edges. If that's the case, that's pretty horrible, and I have to wonder if I got a defective case or if this is case of pre-production blues.
PROTECTION:
There is lay for the back but none for the front. I suspect this was for appearance reasons. Note this FAQ on kickstarter:
How does the bumper protect the phone?
Most falls typically end up striking the edge of the phone. It's very difficult to drop a phone parallel to a surface and land flat. Most screen cracks occur because of a point load on the perimeter.

You'll even see in the video above that when the screen cracked there was a point load on the edge that caused it.
thanks
Obviously, cases are a personal choice between protection and appearance. For me, appearance is most important. Only you can decide for yourself if you want an Otterbox, Graft Leverage, or a Mindplar i+Case.
EASE OF ASSEMBLY:
It's easy. I'll let the photos do the talking.
Just be careful with the screws -- they are VERY SMALL. They give you 6 in case you lose some.
ANYTHING ELSE?
Yes. You may have noticed the black foam inside the case in one of the photos. And you would think, as did I, that it's to stop critical areas of the antenna band from touching the aluminum. But upon further examination, it doesn't. The antenna band ONLY makes contact with the case on the corners. The sides are actually recessed and are essentially filled with foam so that it's flush with the corners. That means that if you take the foam out, the sides STILL won't be touching the antenna band. LOLWTF?! What is the whole point of the foam then??? Observe:
The fit inside is also VERY tight. If you have any wraps on the antenna band, it will not fit (I had to take my iColorWrap off). However, since the case does not bleed into the glass edges, and front and back screen protectors can remain.
The headphone jack opening is also cut to the EXACT same specs as that on the iPhone. That means if you have a headphone/IEM/earbud with a jack that is thicker than that of the Apple earbuds, it's not going to fit. An option is to get an adapter, but that probably gets annoying fast.
OVERALL SCORE:
Does it preserve reception: With T-Mobile, no. With other carriers, unknown.
Appearance: 9/10
Quality: If the edges not completely overlapping are fixed, 9/10; currently, it is 7/10 (you may consider the warping edges to be minor)
Protection: Protects everything except the front.
Ease of assembly: 8/10 (I find it fun to assemble as well)
CLOSING THOUGHTS:
* This is an amazing looking case with a minor/moderate flaw with the warping edges. Do not tighten the screws too much to minimize this.
* If you're on T-Mobile, your reception issues will continue. It doesn't make it worse though, and may possibly mitigate slightly, but nonetheless remain. On other carriers, I have no idea if reception is affected.
* Mindplar, PLEASE MAKE A TOUGH PLASTIC VERSION OF THIS TO FIX THE BUCKLING EDGES AND T-MOBILE RECEPTION ISSUES.
