Restore your the "stolen" phone, that will wipe out any potential spy apps on the phone. Change your ID as others have suggested and that will get rid of find my i app issues.

I fixed that for you and the OP.
I do find irony in finding a phone, making zero attempt to find the owner, and bitching about someone potentially tracking you through find my iPhone.

Yes, I found the phone, yes owner reached out to me, and b/c he wanted a 4S he said he'd sell it to me for $149 bc "supposedly" thats what apple would have charged him. If you must know the logistics, we texted back and forth. Happens he lived in my neighborhood but we still did it through paypal

Woops. Guess you missed the above by the OP then... She bought it from the owner.

Not to mention, if the OP didn't want anyone to jump to conclusions, they they either shouldn't have mentioned the 'finding' it part, or actually finish that story by saying they found it, got in touch with it's owner and purchased it.

I agree with you both. It doesn't make sense to say you found it. Get called out for it, then come and try to say that you spoke with the original owner and actually paid for the phone through PayPal.

If that were the case, why say you found it, why not say I bought an old iPhone?? It all seems fishy to me.

No one gives a crap what you own.

:(

LOL

...... but that story makes no sense either. Why would they sell the phone for $150 when they simply could have demanded it's return and sold it for much more?
....

Folks here assume that EVERYONE knows the value of certain phones. There is also an assumption here that EVERYONE gets the highest value.

In reality, most people do not have a clue as to how much a used iphone is really worth. And, for those that have an idea, they might be willing to sell it for less if there is a ready and willing buyer already at hand - vs advertising, collecting, shipping, etc.

I love how everyone assumes it wasnt an old phone of mine or whether or not I did attempt to find the owner...but thanks for taking my situation lightly and offering nothing but criticisms and harmful wishes. If you must know the logistics, we texted back and forth. Happens he lived in my neighborhood but we still did it through paypal so I had some type of record of purchase, I may be a woman, but I try my best to do things the "right" way...not sure what all the judging is about...you people need to take a chill pill, for real.

Thanks to all the others for being concise with your responses! I'm already on it :p

No you didn't.

"mamaboo"

ROFL.......................................

Yeah, you deserve what's coming to you. :p
...

edit: You're not trying to do things the "right way" by any means lol, stop lying to yourself as well as everyone else.

Anyway, ignoring the morality circlejerk on this thread... OP, if your ex has access to your iCloud account, or the phone is set up with your ex's iCloud account, he can use Find My iPhone. So either remove his account or change your password. Simples.

You found a phone, but, instead of trying to find it's rightful owner or turning it into a carrier or the police, you decided to keep it for yourself.

Good news. You're in possession of stolen property and deserve whatever you get.

Why do people on the internet get off on seeing people "get what they deserve"?

They like to believe they're better than everyone else and on the internet no one really knows them so they can keep that charade up.

In real life, of course, most people who found an iPhone would keep it or sell it regardless of whether or not they're willing to admit it.

Speak for yourself. I found an iPhone last year. Based on the apps/content, it obviously belonged to a teenage girl. Looked up 'Dad' in the Directory and gave him a call. Met him and a relieved/upset daughter later that evening.

Selling it never crossed my mind. The dad made the daughter offer me a cash reward for finding it. I declined that as well.

I said most people. Assuming you're telling the truth, you're in the minority.

You guys are such pricks, it's unbelievable.

Restore the phone, you should be good.

Guess I am in the minority as well. I have returned two iphones found in retail stores. Turned one in at customer service desk.

Made a few phone calls on the other and actually tracked the guy in the parking lot of Lowes as he was loading his truck. Freaked him out when I called him by name.

Seems like I found another, but can not remember it right now.

These phones might be worth $200 to me. But worth thousands to the absent minded owner. It is the ONLY option in my mind.

Found one in an airport last year and called a few people on the list before I located the owner. She was pretty happy.

Damnit, if i had seen this a couple days ago, this would have been my exact response. Salute to you ma'am/sir.

Nah, I'm with Jess.

I call bullpoodoo on the OP's "addendum" to the story.

you be surprised how many people think the phones are worth the contract price. So if he thinks the phone is worth $199 then selling for $150 would seem like a good deal to him.

Nailed it.

Guess you read the OP and failed, completely, to read the thread itself.
No, I read the thread. What I saw was a ton of judgement heaped on someone, who then felt obligated to return and clarify the circumstances surrounding her acquisition of the phone. What followed was more judgement.

Am I missing something?
