I’m a competitive runner (2:21 marathon PR) and have to say, I genuinely think there’s a place for Garmin and Apple (and Coros). I own and rotate between the three brands (primarily my Pace 3 review device, and my Apple Watch Series 7, since it’s new to me), but as long as your runs still end up logged in the same place… I think any of them can get by. Of course I’d prefer to use a running-specific watch for a technical workout, but for an easy run, I don’t think the Series 7 (or any Apple Watch) will let you down.
the coros 3 is def calling my name!!!

Huh? Never use a platform from a watch seller? As opposed to what? Is there some open source, widely used, very compatible platform with other smartwatches out there that I’m unaware of? All the platforms are proprietary as far as I’m aware - Coros, Polar, Apple, Suunto, Garmin, Whoop, Oura, Android Wear etc. I went through a few (I mean, in our household we have Garmin, Apple, Fitbit, Polar and Oura) and I have friends who cover the rest, so I’m reasonably familiar with them.

How do you get the same data quality and analysis as good as Garmin? It’s probably got the widest ecosystem of devices and compatibility with gym equipment out there, which means huge flexibility depending on your needs, and since there’s no requirement for a monthly payment, Garmin is actually quite cost effective. It’s an excellent platform.
Yes, intervals.icu. You can sync over 25 platforms to it and has incredible metrics and workout planning. I used this with my Garmins prior to going to the AWU. All I needed to do is install the HealthFit app and all my AWU data now syncs to intervals.icu. Even my Wahoo Kickr Bike workouts head to intervals.icu and I can program power based workouts to use directly on device or Zwift. My Garmin scale also syncs as intervals.icu supports Garmin integration.

This way, I am not tied to a single manufacturers products, which may or may not be the best in category.
