For that price you better off buying some bluetooth earbuds.

This isn’t the future. It’s not letting go of the past.

Hear that everybody? Throw your old headphones into the trash. Didn't you hear, they're from the past! Still using your old-fashioned oven and stove? Get with the times and toss those dinosaurs and cook in a microwave. It's 2017, for crying out loud. Get it through your head: when something new comes out, you buy it and abandon all of your old technology immediately. What's so hard to understand about that?

What’s next? A cassette tape adapter? I mean come on folks it’s 2017. Just get some modern headphones and be done with it!

You do realize that people still happily buy and use headphones with cords, right? And that they don't have to deal with batteries, or pairing, or Bluetooth compression?

So... get rid of your high-end headphones and buy some cheapo bluetooth versions? Great advice.

The one thing that has kept me from upgrading my 6S plus is the fact that I will lose my audio jack. I seriously hate that Apple removed these ports from their iPhones. I have plenty of things that run bluetooth but I still need to be able to charge my phone and plug an audio cable into it at the same time. One of the big reasons why is my motorcycle. It does not have bluetooth built in. I ride a 2010 Honda Goldwing that has everything you'd never need on a bike... except bluetooth. I need to be able to charge my phone and plug into the audio at the same time. I could spend a few hundred dollars and try to install a bluetooth unit on my motorcycle, but I shouldn't have to. Another reason I don't like bluetooth is how you can get lag when using bluetooth which can cause you to miss a turn or an update with directions. I've experienced this when using bluetooth headphones and the GPS app.

I just don't like using bluetooth when listening to audio. I don't care about wireless. I don't want to deal with recharging batteries. Big F-U to Apple for forcing this on people who want to upgrade their phones.

This is awesome. It supports data sync, which the other didn't. CarPlay should now work, while also charging and using a wired headset. Perfect. Just ordered one to test.

You are a corporations dream person. They victimise customers that don't buy new headphones, and you are their frontline soldier defending that.

99% don't need or want "modern" headphones.

Bought a similar adapter on amazon for like $10. I just keep it at my desk if I'm watching a show and not using BT headphones.

This is what convinced me to finally place an order for an iPhone 8 and replace my old 5c. I listen to podcasts while driving a couple of hours each weekday and sometimes use the phone as a GPS, so being able to charge the phone and get the sound out of it in to my car stereo was a deal breaker for me. I spent a couple of days looking for a good solution but all the cheaper alternatives had stopped working with iOS 10.3. At that stage i felt like Tim Cook could go and bugger himself and that i might as well get a Samsung. It was obviously not because the other adapters were not working properly hardware wise, but because Apple had blocked them in software. A real ****** move by them. But at least there is one (overpriced) adapter which works, so i can keep using iPhones and will not be forced to replace all my iOS apps with Android ones.

Still... sometimes Apple is just a ****** company. Sadly.

I received mine on Thursday and it works great, in the car in a ProClipsUSA dash mount.

It was an upgrade from the old two lightning port model, it now supports data pass thru.

I can now finally have my corded Plantronics headset while charging and using CarPlay, all at the same time.

Perfect.
