Eh, I’ll be sticking with Caldigit as it’s one of the few to have DisplayPort. And the computer connect is in the back. Why would you ever want it to be in the front? The front should just be for temporary needs.

The main idea of these docks is that the dock stays on your desk and you only have to plug in one cable to turn your laptop into a desktop.

But the Thunderbolt port that you connect to the laptop is on the front? So that cable is always sticking out?

That seems a little odd.

The front SD card is great for those who need it. But I'd like to see a front USB-A port for occasional flash drive usage.

But the always-attached Thunderbolt cable seems like a miss to me. And the price too...

?
YES! This has really bugged me, and they all seem to be coming out of the same factory or something as they all seem to be based around the exact design, I got the Kensington one and it' almost identical to this, the OWC one again identical, doesn't seem to be a decent one with the computer port on the side with ethernet etc.

All these "pro" model docks being released for hundreds of dollars that still give you gigabit. Multi-gig should have been standard for at least a couple years by now. Doesn't even need to be 10G, it can be 2.5 or 5.. but Jesus.. single gigabit on a TB4 dock labeled pro..
The latest one from Caldigit haș 2.5G Ethernet.

Why PC vendors keep adding USB2 ports to PC motherboards and docking stations is beyond me.
Werd. I have a Dell I bought last year as a media server. Why in the world are the 4 USB ports on the back 2.0 and then the only 3.0 ports are the 2 on the front? Looks stupid ugly with external drives plugged into the front.

Yea, hard pass for me, the Brydge Stone Pro TB4 does all I need and more.

I am new to the Mac and I have trouble understanding and finding info about how I can connect my MacBook Pro to my monitor setup, so I am trying to ask here :)
I will soon receive the latest MacBook Pro with M1 Max. I currently have a triple external monitor setup, each supporting HDMI and DisplayPort and are 1080p@60Hz.
So, can I connect all of these monitors to the MacBook through this dock (or another)? How many Thunderbolt ports will be used on the computer itself, if I want it to connect to the three monitors, Ethernet and power supply?
I’d be grateful if somebody has this info, thanks in advance ?

Aw these choices man.

I am currently using all four ports when docking. Two monitors (one through a simple USB-C hub with HDMI/USB-A/Ethernet), power, and a Thunderbolt Blackmagic video I/O device. I'd love to switch to a single port, but when reading reviews of the 90+W docks there always seems to be issues.

Even here people are reacting violently apparently when reading Belkin so I guess I can't put hope on this one either.

I'm a big fan of OWC docks, but the new CalDigit with more ports (18?) AND a 2.5Gbe port looks far better imo.

I liked my CalDigit, but it died. Did they upgrade it to TB4? I HAVE THE OWC dock now and am happy with it except for the awful design decision to put the connection cable on the front.

Doesn’t even include the cable to connect it to the computer? ?

It begins and ends with Humanscale...the best you can get (and ties into their monitor arms if needed...)

New model comes out next month that allows upgrades to the dock without removing the whole unit.

why does every kvm want to do 60hz when we have had 100,120,144,200+ hz monitors for gamers for years. Come on!

Maybe things from 2 decades ago. This is completely unnecessary.
I still have older storage, HID, and photography devices that I regularly use that perform better on 2.0 ports, as well some modern devices that refuse to connect on a 3.1 hub. That’s also not counting my Logitech MX dongle that has rather bad interference on 3.1 ports. Everyone’s needs are different.
