$45 so that people sitting next to me won't know that I'm a full grown adult playing Angry Birds... seems justified.

I've been using privacy screen protectors for almost five years now. None have been as good as iCarez brands.

They are four-way privacy screen protectors so you are covered from each angle. Also, they actually work. Other screen protectors I've tried aren't very private.

Look at this comparison between the iCarez and one I bought from Tech Armor

The iCarez includes a couple of rubber bands and some stickers that you can use to perform a hinge installation of the protector. They are super easy to install properly.

I can not recommend the iCarez screen protectors enough if you're actually concerned about about keeping your screen private in a public setting.
Do they make one for the 7+?

Fix your protectors first. Current models just don’t stick well, this is 2nd one replaced by Apple Store and it got air inside from the left side again after a month. Never ever think buying these.

Do these privacy screen protectors diminish the screen quality at all? How do they perform on a bright sunny day?

I have a XS Max if it make a difference.

Yes. There’s an adjustment period. It will definitely dim the screen. You will notice the protector is on there.

Whatever icarez does doesn’t make it look bad. Some of these protectors I’ve tried just have lines in the protector so that when you look at it head on it kind of distorts the screen. I don’t get any of that with this brand. But you will notice it. It seems worse on OLED devices than it did on my previous LCD devices.

I can say that I don’t have issues using it on a sunny day. I’ve also been using them a long time so I’m pretty used to it. The only thing that’s pretty annoying is trying to take a picture if you’re trying to hold the phone in a weird position away from you.

Just turn down the brightness if people want privacy..
That doesn’t really work like that.

Cough!,..how much???

Yet you can afford a $1,200 phone and the $100 month cell phone bill.

What a sad state of US capitalism to even have the nerve, the IDEA in your head that you could release these for $44.95 — and they will probably sell a ton at that price, which is extremely unaffordable and must have a markup margin of 8000%. So so sad.

$44.95 and must cost 15 cents to manufacture.

The nerve of a business to charge what people are willing to pay!!!! They should be charging cost plus 1%!!!!!!

Yeah, it does suck. I have a friend who has an XS Max and he rocks it naked. At lunch I'm able to see the screen and it is beautiful. Then I realize that I'm able to read everything he's doing on his screen from two seats away. These phones are so huge and clear now that its way too easy to see everything.

So, I've had a bit of a dull screen for a few years but its a trade-off you have to decide if you want to make.

Indeed, originally this was a needed quality feature for larger screens like those of monitors or TVs where the screen does not move with your position.

Can‘t say who started to throw them at us as a sales point for more expensive phones. (I might have an idea, though)

Funnily enough I was thinking about putting theses existing laptop foils on a smart a few days ago, when that guy in the cinema two seats away checked his OLED phone every 10 mins.

Well, I won’t buy it at that price, nor will many people. Hopefully they understand how microeconomics works.

After years of innovation of display industry so that we can have a perfect viewing angle at every direction, some people just want to minimize that precious viewing angle, for $44.95 LOL.

Well Apple sells a $40 clear case which is specifically made for a single phone model, feels like it was made for $0.99 and it bubbles on the back. Whether it will turn yellow in time is yet to be seen, but considering the material it's likely.

Some cultures have a strong track record on feeding greedy companies :)
