I really don't know if I'm going to get the snap shield.
I see some people are complaining from the fit. Being a little loose is a deal breaker for me.

Got my Snap Shield at the local BB yesterday. I had been waiting for the Snap Shield Secure to come into stock, but then realized it wouldn't arrive in time for my trip at the end of this week. I had ordered an I-Blason that was supposed to have been in last Friday, but they had quality control issues and it was delayed (for the color I wanted).

I got the frosted Belkin Snap Shield, which wasn't my first choice, but the only color they had in stock.

I'm pleased now that I don't have to be so careful about avoiding scratches on the back of my Ipad. It fits well, just perfectly.

Overall, I'm pleased with it and ready for my trip!

So is the consensus that the new model of the Belkin Snap Shield does not fit tightly on the new iPad? I have a Snap Shield Secure on preorder, but thinking about canceling if people are saying the snap shield is loose.

Thanks.

who said it doesn't fit tightly anyway? i can't find any posts regarding the new snap shields and none tight fits.

I can confirm that. Despite the issue of cracks I loved the SnapShield for the iPad2. The new Snapshield for the new iPad underwent a slight redesign, I guess to prevent cracks in the corners, which results in a less tight fit. While using my iPad I could feel the case flexing under my hands and the section on the right hand side (in portrait) comes off a bit every once and a while. Purchased from amazon.co.uk and returned soon after... :( Looking for alternatives, that allow removing the Smartcover.

Just search this thread for the word "loose." It has been reported by multiple people. I don't know, I don't have one yet.

Hmm.. I don't like the sound of that. I imagine the snap shield secure will have the same issue. I might cancel my order.

Let us know what case you go with. I also wants one that allows the smart cover to be removed.

I'm on my second Snap Shield for the new iPad and it's going back today. Neither of the 2 I've tried has fit securely. At this point, I think the Snap Shield for iPad 2 would work better. It's almost as if Belkin made the new one just a hair too big.

EDIT* Come to think of it, Belkin redesigned the iPad 2 Shield so I'd expect a Version 2 for the new one as well.

I picked up a snap shield yesterday for the new ipad from Best Buy and the fit is perfect.

Something is definitely up then. The 2 I've gotten from BB didn't fit very well at all. Do you still have the box? What revision is it?

I've sent my Snap Shield back - the fit is just too loose for me. There's no snap at all, it's barely hanging on on the right hand side. Terrible product.

Gone back to the Incipio (non-smart) Feather from the iPad 2. While it bulges ever so slightly at the back, it's a much tighter fit than the Belkin.

Snap Shield Secure from Amazon

I placed a pre-order for the Snap Shield Secure from Amazon the week the iPad came out.

I just got an email from Amazon saying that my Snap Shield Secure now has an estimated shipping date: Between April 28th and May 2nd

I may cancel the order because the Snap Shield Secure I bought at target for the iPad2 fits well enough for my taste. It bulges a TINY bit in the back but it is not noticeable...

If I decide to keep the order, ill post a mini-review and pics as soon as i get it...

I picked up a Snap Shield Secure from the MacMall store here in Chicago this morning, they have clear and smoked grey in stock. I bought the smoked grey and it fits like a charm, not loose at all. The box says its RevB00 so maybe they adjusted the manufacturing process a bit from RevA00.

I like this case but coming from using a Zum on my iPad 2 I wish that the Belkin locked the SmartCover to the case. This one may just be a stopgap for me until the Zum comes out this/next week.

And is this the ipad 3 version or are you talking about hte ipad 2 version?

Damn you're lucky. Glad to see it fits perfect. I'll keep waiting on this case to arrive.

Yeah, lucky I guess, after using it for a bit though I still would prefer a case that locks the smart cover on, was so used to that using the Zum on my iPad 2. Zum's supposed to have their new case up on Amazon this week, thinking I may return the Snap Shield.

any strong reasoning behind this?

It's a personal preference, some people like being able to detach their case from the Smart Cover, others prefer it to be locked on. I have a few reasons for wanting it to be locked on, mainly I've always found the Smart Cover magnets to be a little weak. When I have my iPad standing up in landscape mode on occasion the Smart Cover would pop off when I was touching the screen, also the SC would separate on occasion in a carrying sleeve/bag. Lastly, in the off chance that the whole case+SC set is falling I can grab the Smart Cover and it won't separate from the case. I've looked at several back case options that lock the smart cover on and nearly all of them (ie: Smart Feather) have large areas at the top/bottom that are exposed. I like the Zum because it covers all of the back and sides. It looks like a few other companies are starting to roll out this as an option but nobody seems to be shipping until the next week or two. If you search the forums on Zum you'll find mixed reviews, some people have cases that have cracked with the company sending replacements right away, others never receiving replacements, etc. Personally I have been very happy with my iPad 2 case from them and am anxious to see what they release for the new iPad.

ETA by MacMall is April 20 when I asked them about it. Was told that ETA was given by manufacturer.

I placed an order today though, hopefully my order gets in with whatever shipment is coming in this week.

How did you confirm this? I asked them and they told me april 20th. I have it preordered dating back a couple of weeks....hopefully this is true. The sooner we get it the better. :)
