Wouldn't it be compatible with iPad 3 as well considering there's no major difference between the 2 and 3?

The "major difference" is the slight increase in thickness. Although it is minimal this difference can change location/dimensions of the camera and possibly speakers and the grade of the curve on the edge of the device.

I would highly recommend you wait for a tailored case for your device.

Ooooh I like that. I might have to pick one up. So far i've got the Maroo Moko black leather, Targus Slim white, and I want to get a back shell so I can have the option of using just a back and/or smart cover when I want.

Now that everyone has received their new iPads, does your old Belkin Snap Shield fit perfectly to the new iPad?

My new iPad isn't here yet (FedEx should be bringing it sometime today), but I'm not even tempted to try. The new iPad is thicker, and the Belkin cover fits so tightly, I'd be amazed if it fit the new iPad.

No issues whatsoever. It still fits well, but be careful putting it on and off. The slight difference in size will mean that its a little more tight when installing. You don't want to break the tabs.

But once it is in, it is still a perfect fit

I had no idea this one was soft when i pulled the trigger from Amazon. Since its soft, it really should have no problem fittin new ipad. I will update in an hour when i get my hands on both!!
