Have the Mophie and 8 plus. Does not work reliably with leather 3rd party folio case (Alston Craig). It requires so much fiddling to align correctly, It’s more annoying than plugging in.

It’s gorgeous. Luckily I didn’t pay for it. Samsung gave me one last time I saw one of their sales reps. One of the perks of managing one of the “big four’s” telcomm retail locations.

I’d say so. Nice.

I know the Apple silicone is very thin and is probably why - but, I haven’t had to look twice at the Belkin with my 8+. Nice landing spot.

Charging rate, however, is something I’ll pay mind to now.

Feel as though my battery has been getting slammed all night due to restoring a full iCloud backup - so, we’ll see.

I got the Belkin and it make the charging sound and show the current percentage when placed on the charger. I like it!

Mine makes the little "ding" sound that any iPhone makes when you plug in the charging cable, but doesn't make the "whoosh" sound that was in that clip - does yours?

I think I’ll keep the Mophie as it’s more compact.

Does the light on the Belkin only blink green or does it show another colour when not fully charged?

Hi

Question:

For those who have the Mophie Charging base, how long is the attached cable?

For those who have the Belkin, the same question. How long is the attached cable?

Which power adapter most easily fits into a power strip?

Thanks

Green only. No other indication except to tell you the phone is properly placed on the mat.

There is no whoosh sounds. The phone chimes and shows the current charge just like plugging in the lightning cable. I went from 70% to 100% in less than 90 minutes.

I saw a youtube video from iJustine comparing both. Not sure exactly how long, but cable length is identical.

Anyone using the Mophie and like it? How long is the cable on the charging mat?

I bought the Samsung wireless charger. Doesn’t seem to fast charge with the Samsung “fast charge” block.

Going to try the same charger with an iPad charging brick and see how it goes. The quality of the Samsung one is awesome. The leather feels amazing.

I grabbed the cheapie Samsung one (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UCZGS36/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) just to dip a toe in the world of Qi charging (and it looks like a circa-2001 Apple product). Since this doesn't have the fast charge capability, I'll probably wait until the software update before buying more. Still, let us know how it works out - I saw that particular one even had a fan to keep the device cool since Qi does generate a bit of extra heat.

I really wish there was an app that would show the rate of current for charging like some Android devices can get (just to verify these things).

Are you sure the leather one has a fan in it? I didn’t notice any noise coming from it. I thought only the cheaper $70 one that isn’t convertible has a fan in it.

The box on the mophie says 6.5 feet. The power plug is pretty compact.

Just got back from Apple store and I picked the Mophie. Main reason is it takes up less desk space. It has a soft white light on the underside that turns on when charging. Seems to be working on the apple silicone case but I have to make sure the centre of the phone is resting on it in order to charge.

The Belkin has a pretty long power cord... and the plug is freaking huge. The plug prongs are at the extreme end of the charger block, so you can easily use it at the end of a power strip, but it would easily block 3 outlets on a standard power strip.

I haven’t seen one yet, but Amazon seems to think so (4th bullet point down in the At A Glance section). Maybe it only comes on at a certain temperature?

Just bought the Belkin. Mophie seemed cheap and very un-Applelike. I liked the white on the Belkin and the larger size. Was glad I could open both in the store since they both had sliding boxes.

Makes no noise, works well, and I just get the normal ding sound when I put my phone on it, or no sound when the ringer switch is on silent.

First full day with the Mophie and have no complaints at all. My 8+ in an Otter Defender charges just fine. Cable is just the right length. Now to get one for both of my offices. It’s nice just picking it up and setting down.

I went for the Mophie (wasn’t even planning on getting a wireless charger but so pleased I have!).
Comparing both the Mophie and the Belkin in then Apple Store the Mophie is a LOT smaller, but fits my iPhone 8 Plus perfectly.

It charges through my Apple Silicone case fine.

The Mophie does have a very discreet Charging Light (not too bright, which is perfect)... The power cable is a specific one to Mophie (ie it’s not lightning or USB etc)... the plug itself isn’t too big (not far off a standard UK plug). VERY pleased :))

That one doesn't look like it'll support fast charging on the iPhone (it isn't the "boost up" model) -- and that's only enabled with the iOS 11.1

I believe that’s correct, but still seems like a good deal. It charges the same as a regular apple brick that’s included with iPhones. From what I’m seeing the fast charge pads cost $40-$80

I'm not sure that I understand the need for "fast charging"... I charge overnight and my charge easily lasts all day... it might be nice to be able to charge quickly in a specific situation, but I've probably only ever "topped off" my charge a dozen times or so in the past 3 or 4 years.
