Ben & Jerry's have such a strong ethical thing going on, can someone tell me why they don't use organic ingredients?

I usually have Green & Blacks' organic chocolate ice-cream - rich, dark, sinful and the same price as Ben & Jerry's.

for the details. Salivation guaranteed.

I'm a health nut. Fact. I watch what goes into my body and exercise regularly. 6 years ago I was 240 pounds and today I'm 170 pounds. This didn't happen by accident. And the only way I kept it off was through education, eating right and exercise.

Why the disclaimer? Because organic foods are no better for you than nitrogen-fertilized foods. But they are more expensive. John Stossel reported on this and FAIR.ORG as well as a host of others (namely sellers of organic foods) hit the ceiling.

Read his book, GIVE ME A BREAK.

Then read his critics. Then read this regarding organic foods and the defense of Stossel.

Chocolate fudge brownie, I still remember the first time I had it (London 97).
Unfortunatly we don´t get it up here in Norway, only Haagen Daz.
So after 6 years in London, no more B&J :(
My favourite Haagen is Strawberry cheese cake, it´s bliss. Hmm reminds me I have one in the freezer, off I go.

not a B&J flavor, but Bryers makes a seasonal (halloween time) Pumpkin flavor that I just love. Man, I get fat around thet time (not to mention that's Thanksgiving time too..

Saw on a program about obesity a while ago that one of the original owners of Ben & Jerry's (dunno which) died of a heart attack aged 40 something. They had one of there sons on who got really really ill when he was young as they had a huge freezer at home with all the types of ice cream in and he used to eat it all the time. He developed a nutrient deficancy and doesn't eat the stuff anymore as docs told him he would develop diabities if he kept eating the amount he was.

Wish I could remember the name of the programme now.

Still, give me Britney Spears covered in Phish Food and I'd be a happy man! :D :D :D

Are you sure it wasn't about the original owner of Baskin-Robbins? I seem to remember a very similar story, but he died in his earlt 50's.

I'm there with you though on the Phish Food. My wife wouldn't eat it for the longest time because it was named after Phish. She really didn't like the band. Once she tried it she was hooked.

I loooooove half baked, I'm addicted to it. My mom really likes the mint chocolate cookie flavor, but one time in the 80's, she got a pint with no cookies in it at all, and wrote a letter to Ben & Jerry and got a handwritten letter back, but threw it away! that would've been cool to keep..

I am craving B&Js "Whirled Peace". Sweet cream, toffee cookie pieces & choco peace signs. Lennon glasses on carton.

I'm better known as a thread killer, thought I'd try thread reviving.

I think this takes the prize for Thread resurrection;)

However. On topic, I have long since given up on any ice cream since there is no point in not eating the whole tub at one sitting. :D
