I jailbroke today. So far, I love it. I think just having SBSettings and Categories makes it worth it.

Nice... poll everybody in your contacts list for three weeks. See how many of them tried to call you but it rang and went straight to voicemail. See my earlier post...

I just don't think it's worth it if you're losing a phone just to gain an ipod with a customized background.

As you said in your earlier post, that was several months ago. Have you tried it since 2.2? JB really is a lot more stable these days, even compared to one month ago. Things are constantly updated. Don't try to discourage people by giving them your experiences from "several months ago".

Several months ago means I had a jailbreak on the 2g iPhone that was roughly 8 months after its release date and I had those problems. Are you trying to say that you are 100% confident that a jailbreak on a new 3g iPhone would not experience something similar...at roughly 6 months after its release date? By all means, if people feel that jailbreaking is the route for them, take it, I'm just warning people of MY experience. What you're basically doing is "hacking" the computer through FREE software and you don't think there are cons to this?

Nothing is 100%, so that's a rhetorical question. How do you get that bitter taste out of your mouth; and what do you call it "antagonism?" Gawd, it's just about having fun with MY iPhone not yours...

Ah... you knocked me down a rung. Well done, sir... I stand down. And I use Altoids for the bitter taste.

What I am saying is that JB on FW 2.2 is much more stable, so it doesn't make perfect sense for you tell someone about problems you had on previous FW with old versions of the software.

I have never heard or read about someone with your problem specifically, but no, JB FW does not run perfectly. But, then neither does a non-JB iPhone. I used to have problems under previous FW, but the only issue I've had since updating to 2.2 is with safari crashing fairly often, which is the case on non-JB phones too.

I'm not saying jailbreaking is a perfect world. Just that it is far more stable under 2.2 than it has been in the past, so try it again before you go around telling other people it will make their phone not answer calls.

Fact.

A simple restore will solve almost any issue caused by jailbreaking. Everything else will he solved by a DFU restore.

Compare this to the iPhone nano. A stupid idea somebody came up with that rumor hungry people went running with. Both need to be forgotten forever.

I Agree.:D

So, jailbreaking will not void my warranty?

I would like to jailbreak my iPhone, but I'm not sure i should risk it, as it's only a couple days old.

Same here.

Plus, I'm worried that if I jailbreak the most basic features are going to be unreliable, such as the phone.

A jailbroken phone is not under warranty, but as long as you do a complete restore before you take it in to apple, then your warranty is not affected.

I've done the process over a dozen times, and never bricked a phone or had one come out of it without any of it's functions. Just try it if you really want to do it people. Thats the only way you can know if its right for you. You can always restore....
