these folks know much more than we do, so read what they think if you're interested

but there is one problem. july availability.

I jumped in to the end of this thread earlier today, and as of a couple hours ago there were still people saying "Has anyone seen any reliable benchmarks?" and not getting answered. So they know nothing, really, as well. They're much better at speculating than we are though.

July availability + Apple's history with Nvidia would lead me to believe, or at least prefer, the 7970m.

I see the 7970 for imac. But NVIDIA back in laptops. All analysts , stories and even apples financial outlook claim higher mix of macs in june

Mac(s) plural 1 15" mbp does not cut it

7970m would be great in the imac. What other options could we expect

27inch imac - 7970m and a possible other choice?

If Apple doesn't go for the Retina Display, they could probably afford to make the SSD standard. The Taiwan flooding has kept HD prices from dropping, while Samsung's 256GB SATA-III SSD is retailing for less than $300 now. There's probably enough savings from the other components to make the difference between that and a 1.5-2TB HD reasonable, especially if they drop the optical drive.

Today we have 6750,6770,6970.
If Apple stays on AMD..which cards would be involved? The 28nm should add many benefits to the heat so i don't think Apple will use 40nm old tech gpu by AMD.
Many think that the top one will sport a 7970m and i hope too either..but if Nvidia would land :)()..which cards are quite to be seen behind our displays?Kepler with its 28nm?
680 for the top one and?

i sincerely apologize for predicting the imac 2012 launch date wrong, YOU were right, i was wrong. i repeat, i sincerely apologize.

however, i dont apologize for getting the update characteristics wrong. it seems to me that we both were wrong expecting the usual specification update, and im glad.

gtx680m (10-15% better than 7970m)
retina 3840x2160 (27')
