First, let me say that my watch has not yet arrived, yet. However, on my iPhone I have been using REMINDERS. I simply tell SIRI to remind me when I get to Publix that I need coffee and she adds it to my list. Then when I walk into Publix, the items pop up. Publix is in my address book.

Sorry I'm answering so late. Yes...it is a one time purchase. I have it on my phone & iPad. It has a microphone so you just tell it what you want. It works great. I have 4 different lists now...
Groceries
To Do
Want/Needs
Calls

It is very simple & easy. I love how when I think of something tat I need, I don't need to find paper. It's awesome!!

Thanks for the info!

This is what I do. I have location reminders setup for a few different stores. They pop up on the watch.

Reminders nano. It is exactly what the reminders app on the Apple watch should be. I can use Siri to add things to my list and view the list in reminders nano.

I believe I read, somewhere here, that Reminders Nano syncs with your reminders app. Is that correct?

I started with Buy Me a Pie, which is set up in glances.... but I found it difficult to tick things off the list as I bought them on my watch.

I decided to try Listastic.... and it's exactly what I was looking for!! Love this app!!!

I typically enter my list through the app on my phone, and I can rearrange the list so I can have items arranged by where I know they are in the store.

On my watch, it's very easy to click off the items I no longer need on the list, and if I think of more things to add, I can use the standard list they have or use Siri to add more (or just use my phone to add more too)

So far the built-in Reminders app works very well for me. I enter the list on my phone, ipad, or iMac, and it shows up on my watch. Items get ticked as i buy them, and I don’t need to take the phone out of my pocket. Adding items on the fly via Siri is straightforward. Simple and effective.

I've been using Buy Me a Pie. They recently added a feature to use Siri to add items to the list.

Another vote for Reminders, I have a few lists, one shopping list shared with my partner which we both add/remove from as we go, the Siri integration is very natural and it works great on the watch without getting your phone out. Can't understand what another app could do better!

I have the Pro version of Buy Me A Pie, but I did not pay $25 for it. Looking at the price history of the App, they recently increased the price of the App (from $2.99). I think they did this to discourage people from buying it at the moment as a new version is about to be released.

I emailed the developer (regarding Apple Watch support earlier this week) and told me a new version is on the way and will be released soon.

Edit: Buy Me a Pie is a great app which I use all the time, but it is not worth $25 if they really are intending this to be the new price point. It was great for $2.99

I know this is a million years later, but the price shows as $34.99, probably in CDN$. No way. S

I am going to update my recommendation. I really like AnyList now. It has a meal planning and Apple Watch app that lets you view your grocery list on the watch.

AnyList is my favorite. Not only is it a great grocery app, but it has become a great recipe book as well aside from the feature of showing your grocery list on the watch

I like Bring!

+1 for Bring!, I use it, multiple stores, put the item in the cart, tap on it in the watch, and it's gone. On to the next item. Really a handy piece of software for shopping of any kind, and many preconfigured choices, plus you can add your own.

I went and got Bring. I’ve used it about a week now. Now that I’ve gotten the hang of it I think it’s fine. Until I discover something about it that I think it ought to do and doesn’t, I’ll stick with it. S

So it’s been about a year since this thread was active. Any newer recommendations?

I was using Apple’s reminders and they worked just great until iOS13. My Mac can’t be updated to Catalina, and Mojave’s Reminders are no longer compatible with my Watch, iPhone & iPad. Major deal breaker for me.

If Apple had just updated or offered to update Mojave’s reminder app, I would just continue with that.
