iPhone 6(S)/Plus Best Battery Replacement Pkg.

Good Day all,

Brand new here, and owner of a New To Me 64GB iPhone 6S. I really like the phone with it's IOS 12. However, the phone has a Battery Health of only 75% and seems to drain pretty quickly with moderate use. So I am thinking of replacing the battery, and have seen a bunch of YouTube Videos on how to do it, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'd like it to still be Water Resistant after I'm done replacing the Battery, but I also need the tools as well as the Sticky Tape and Gasket that go with it.

I've replaced a iPhone 4S' battery some time ago, that I owned for around 5 years or so, so it's not like I'm completely unfamiliar with changing a iPhone Battery.

So my question to you folks is:

What "Battery Kit" should I get for this? And, from what I've read, the Battery Heath Meter won't work? How come?

Any, and all recommendations/knowledge about what you folks experienced in the past, with companies, kits or whatever, would be greatly appreciated.

A quick search shows the ifixit package at $29. Since it’s only $20, I will opt for the Apple option so that I’m covered if anything were to go wrong. It is a ”new” phone isn’t it

The ifixit kit is pretty complete and if you have the patience and skill, you can replace the battery in under an hour. The hardest part is removing the adhesive tabs under the battery but there are plenty of videos on youtube as you mentioned. I enjoyed the challenge along with a display replacement but it is not for everyone. Twenty dollars is not a big difference though so if you value your time take it to Apple.

Also if Apple damages something during the repair process, they will give you a new replacement unit regardless of warranty status.

I know it’s out of warranty, but what supergt said is right. Also, while you have experience with an older iPhone, doesn’t mean nothing will go wrong this time around. By the way, as far as I’m aware the procedure to open up a 4s and 6s is rather different

Let Apple do it for $49.

You're not just paying for the labor, the quality of the battery will be better. Many of the kits on the market use B-grade batteries with poor specs.

Your 6S is not water resistant. That was introduced in the iPhone 7. If I remember correctly you get a year warranty on apples battery.

Please don’t get your 6S near water.

You are correct the 6s isn't water resistant but OP is also correct that this model comes with a plastic sealant around the inside of the device that increases the water proofing. If Apple replaces the battery, they will also reinstall this plastic frame.

Edit: I guess it is called assembly adhesive and not a plastic frame.

I would get Apple to replace the battery. That way, you know it will be done right, and you won't have to spend money on a one time use kit.

90 day warranty on battery replacement... Unless you have AppleCare+ that is still good for more than the 90 days then it is the remaining time on AppleCare+..

I thought it was the 1 year/80%.

Thats disappointing. Especially because during the replacement the genius made no effort at all to explain the warranty the battery had afterwards.

I’m with you on that. I had to search on the support page to find out. I guess any replacement parts are covered for 90 days

I would like to know if it's 90 days or a full 1 year. There is an Apple store not too far away from my locations. Can you link me to that Support info?
