Well... Who is going to cart a selfie stick wherever they go for the incredibly rare occasion when they want one? Or you can be like one those really annoying tourists that use them all the time. Your choice.
Or you could be someone in between the two extremes, like where reality places many people.
 
You do realize a picture of more than just yourself is not selfie?
And that says what exactly? That's what they are generally called even if they can be used for other things (and perhaps are often used for those other uses by many people).
 
So many feelings about something that doesn't affect anyone else.

Oh but they do. I have to run the gauntlet dodging them walking to and from work each day because stupid tourists wave them about not realising people actually live where they are on holiday. For similar reasons they are being banned in venues around the world. It's been settled and selfie sticks are already considered the scourge of society used by selfish people.

Seems like the people are the issue and not the tool (as it comes down to most things really).
