I am really tempted to pick up one of the base MacBooks currently 300.00 off..on sale right now at BB. I had a previous MB in the past and love the portability of this design. Currently using MBP 13 right now. Which I love, but can't help but think the MB12 would be a great addition for travel.

talk me out of it please :)

I bought it for $899 last weekend. I love it but I also don't know if I should exchange it for an iPad Pro, since iOS will be getting mouse support.

I picked up a 12" MacBook during a Black Friday promotion this past year. I was going from a late 2011 13" MacBook Pro that had slowed down to a crawl over the years. I absolutely love it. I travel a lot with my job and the weight difference in my messenger bag was night and day, and with the battery improvements I was even able to safely leave home without the charger for non-overnight days and still come home with at least a good 60-70% battery life left, even on the longer days.

Yeah, the weight difference is something ..for sure. I also really like the keyboard better on the MB12 vs the MBP13. Not sure why...as I think they are the same butterfly 2 design. but the mb12 feels better to me.

Yeah...really good thought on IpadPro. Which are you looking at?

I picked up a 2017 Space Grey MacBook 12" Maxed out (1.4Ghz 16GB 512GB) the other day on the auction site from Midwest IT Wholesale for $1000 (it was listed at $1099 or best offer). It was listed as near mint open box which was kinda scary, and the pictures didn't show the specs or anything (also there were multiple available), but I took a chance. Ended up being pretty much brand new, minus the charger, and battery cycles were at 12. So extremely good deals are possible if you keep on the lookout.

So, I went to BB yesterday to buy the MB12 Space grey. of course...all sold out. None at my local store, or even within the surrounding area. I finally worked myself into the space to justify buying one too :).

So the sale continues at BB. Base RMB 12' for 999.00. Plus another 100.00 off for student deal. So got this for $899.00. Very happy for that price point!

That's great, congratulations! I love my iPad Pro, but for me my 2017 MacBook blows it away for ease of use and versatility.

My 2017 MacBook is the first Apple laptop that I actually take with me when I travel, even though I bring my iPad Pro with me as well. The MacBook is super light and portable that I love how I can edit images I take on vacation on the go with the laptop.

It's definitely a fantastic machine!

does anyone think that apple will for sure update the MacBook line? seeing as the MacBook is almost out of stock at every Best Buy and the 7 new apple serial numbers that have been found. What's the chance they will update MacBooks? I was kind of hoping they wouldn't that way I would have the latest and last MacBook lol

I'm thinking of actually not exchanging it for the iPad Pro and maybe just keeping it and buying the 11inch iPad as well...it's good to have one laptop and one tablet right?!...and when I add the total spent its $899 + $699 which is the same as a decked out mbp.....or maybe I just return it have one device to serve all my needs, the iPad Pro 12.9...if only iPadOS was already released right now, it would make this choice easier because at least I'd be able to see if the iPad can handle all my needs....decisions decisions.

LOL...I have tried all variations of that device mix :). I had the 12.9IPP. at the time it was just not a laptop replacement, so still had to take my MacBook with me. Then I went MBP...which I still have and love. But it basically stays home. I also now have the new IpadAir..which is a joy to use. Perfect consumption device. Couple that with MB12, those two devices are perfect for travel! imho

would u say that the 12inch MacBook is best paired with the 11inch iPad Pro or the 12.9?
I use my computer for work - email, google docs, google sheets, at home and constantly on the go...plus entertainment and reading consumption.

I really liked the 12.9, but it is heavier than the MacBook...and much bulkier. But if you want the big screen ...that is the best part.

I am a big fan of the 11inch iPad Pro though. perfect size. the keyboard is still well spaced and feels great. Paired with the MacBook 12, you have 2 great devices that travel well!

fyi I have been on the fence as well. Just last night it was still $400 off for bb member, as of this morning it is now $500 off at $799, so I finally decided to go for it. Going to try it for a few days and see how it is!

Wow...an additional $100! Very nice. I think I will be taking a trip to BB tonight to get my quick Benjamin :)

same here, I'm still within 30 days and I paid $899, they will price match to $799 right?

FYI, Best Buy apparently has a recently new policy where they will only price match an item one single time. So if for example, you buy a Mac for $999 and price match it one week later for $899, then that is it. Even if the price drops further to $799 within the return window, they won't do a match again. Of course, YMMV per store location and who you actually talk to.

  • Our Price Match Guarantee covers new items (excludes clearance and open-box items). One price match per identical item, per customer, at the current pre-tax price available to all customers is allowed.

got Best Buy to price my MacBook at $799 today! it's def a keeper now. even if apple releases a new MacBook I'm sure it will be $1299 and I'd rather save $500 to use on a iPad Pro 11inch and have both an iPad and laptop for the price of a newer MacBook, or mbp

Best Buy has some really solid deals at times. I recently got myself a base model 2017 rMB for $799. It was an open box deal, although everything was still in its original plastic wrap inside the box and the machine is flawless. I'll take having had someone else open the box and glance at the computer for $500 off :)

I’m actually curious as to how your 2015 is holding up overall? Do you mind sharing? Thanks.

It’s in flawless condition. I find it slow where it will beach ball on many occasions in use. If only using browser it is fast enough. Any comments on the 2017?

Sorry, I don't. I'm still holding onto my MacBook Pro from 2011, hence that's why I'm looking for a new machine. I want something thin and light so that I can take around the house and such. My 2011 machine is still working extremely well. So I'm debating between using MacBook 12 (2017) or just get a keyboard to work with my iPad Pro and remote desktop into my work machine.

Only issues with my MacBook Pro 2011 is the weight and how thick it is compare to the new machines, it is also rather loud under load.
