While I didn't do an inventory, my Best Buy in the Clearwater FL area seem to have plenty around lunch time.

Who can predict?

I could have sworn the iPad 2 would get this response but it sold out like crazy the first day.

No pre-orders for ipod 2. plus the tsunami also messed with supplies. This upgrade is not a huge deal for the average user.

Apple is getting some bad press , rare for a launch day.

"iPad Frenzy Slows"

"By 10am staff outnumbered customers 3 to 1"

Apple will not like that...

I'm guessing once the weekly ads show that the new iPad is in the stores, only then will demand increase.

I just don't see how having stock is a bad thing. More devices to more people. You know they will sell a mind blowing number of these things. It just seems like they took the time to make sure their stock would be adequate.

Who cares what the media says. It will still post really solid numbers once initial sales results are released.

I went to my Best Buy in central CT around 2:30 to get a case and they still looked to have tons in stock. All configurations too. Apple really did stockpile them up this time it seems.

I called my local Best Buy. They only had 1 32GB Verizon black (the one I wanted). I decided to swing by Apple first. They had plenty. There were probably 50 people in the store but didn't take but 5 minutes for me to get one at 4pm today. I was kinda surprised.

I just saw this thread, was at BB earlier for something else and it's end of the day and they had a *****load in stock. I asked one of the sales reps and he said they sold no different really then iPad 2 at this point (meaning like it was just any other day of people coming in to buy an ipad like normal, as if people had no idea there was a new update etc). Either there isn't much demand as they thought, or Apple went waaaay overboard on stock surplus lol. Buddy bought one earlier at the Apple store, same thing, ton in stock, walked in and walked right out w/ one no prob.

Well I settled for the 64GB version at Best Buy today. Early this morning I went to Sam's Club around 6:30 after I heard they were opening earlier at 7AM for the launch. There was about 6 other people there and about 10 till, the guy came out and said their shipment never arrived. So I just hung out at Starbucks until I had to be at work at 8AM. I checked Best Buy's website and it said they were completely out of stock. However after reading many posts on this forum saying that wasn't the case I called them on a whim on my lunch break. (about 5 minutes from the office). Lo and behold they said they still had several. I get there and they were out of the 32GB wifi versions so I caved and got the 64GB (Thank God for tax refunds. :p)

Where I live there seems to be plenty of shortages, my closest walmart and BB are sold out and the local Apple store only has "select 32 and 64 models" they said to check back later next week for 16g models.

Seems like the pre-order process was more difficult.. Had to wait for the site to be up and running, it took a couple of tries for me before the order went through online. I didn't pre-order the apple TV so I went to Best Buy during my lunch break to get it and there were only 3 people ahead of me. They were even selling two new iPad units to the guy ahead of me with no questions. No fuss, no frenzy. I got the apple tv easily in less than 10 minutes.

Hmmm, getting tempted to walk down to the apple store after work. I know I'm getting a 32gb black. Just trying to decide between AT&T and Verizon.

Your best bet is checking the coverage maps in your area and the places you use it most. Go from there. I would say Verizon has the better 4g coverage but At&t gets decent speeds with HSDA (or whatever its called) and you won't burn through your data as quick with slower speeds.

They still have the one iPad limit at BB regardless of the many they have left.

I'm in NYC, so I'm in LTE at home and work and the neighborhoods all around. I'm leaning toward the Verizon for the better likelihood of 4G coverage while traveling and the free hotspot access (I could see using that feature on the road to connect my work laptop). Also it would give me cell diversity since my work provided iPhone is on AT&T.

But I lose my grandfathered in unlimited data plan which I have on my iPad 1. And I only get 2Gb for $30 from Verizon. I think that is enough since I typically am in wifi range. I've only used 20 GB received and 7 GB sent on my iPad 1 and I bought it pretty early on. So is that close to two years now?

Also, Apple Store on 5th Avenue still has some according to someone I got on the phone. But not an infinite amount left.
