if you didnt go pass the activation screen then how can you say its unlocked? you have to activate it to check whether its unlocked or not!

Yeah so that means you didn't verify at all if it's unlocked or not.
It could still be locked.
Any sim will take you to the activation screen.
Once you get passed that, activate and you're into the home screen with the carrier name and signal dots on the top left then you'll know it's unlocked.
But sounds like you don't need an unlock so no big deal.
 
I don't really need one right now but may in the future. What bothers me about this is on att unlock site it says phone is not theirs. What problem am I going to have when I try to unlock it when I need to.You are right it appears to be locked. It says sim not supported. When I put it my wife's unlocked iphone6 it goes right to simply mobile.thanks for the insight guys,it's been a help for sure.
 
It may take a few billing cycles for it to show up in the system correctly. I say give it time and check back. It should be registered on the network by then.
