AppleBitch reports that Best Buy's Mexican arm is advertising a special in-store event for this Saturday, February 19th, where users can visit stores to learn about how to use the "new iWork '11". iWork '11 of course has not yet been released, although reports from late last year had suggested that work on it was wrapping up and that it could debut early this year, possibly as a Mac App Store exclusive.
The webpage describes an event where you can "visit Best Buy on February 19th and find out what you can do with iWork '11". While this is obviously not an official announcement from Apple, this event is a good indication that iWork '11 is nearing release. We hope it is at least, otherwise there's going to be a fairly unhappy crowd at a Best Buy in Mexico on February 19th.
The iWork '11 event is currently listed on the front page of Best Buy Mexico, with the entry linking to the feature page with the broader description.

Maybe iWork '11 will exclusively be launched in Mexico. The rest of us will have to wait until next year.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Someone said this too awhile back on another thread, but the best thing about this story is the name of the source, AppleBitch. Every time I see it I lol a little.

Really? Best Buy is one of the emptyest stores I've seen in Mexico, also a new product release event wouldn't happen outside the US.
Publicity stunt or Typo

My real question is the same I have with Office... why? I fail to see why I should pay for the suite again when there are typically a handful of features added that I will most likely never use (that could be included in a patch or add-on package if I truly needed them), ad for them to move the menu's around so that it looks like something's changed.

I haven't seen much actually change in office suites since around 2000. New office suite upgrades just feel an awfully lot like beating dead horses. :(

Please let this happen soon. Please let Keynote be a substantial upgrade. Please give me the ability to use all four sides of the slide pasteboard.

Keynote is better than PowerPoint in so many ways, yet falls so far short in so many others. :(

Then don't upgrade? No-ones forcing you to buy it

I love the iPhone remote control integration part the best! For my needs it has surpassed Power Point. I'll keep the fingers crossed but it has not fallen short for me yet.

Having the slide locked to the pasteboard at the top-left corner makes some animation work extremely difficult if not impossible. A serious flaw.

I'd like the ability to name my animation objects. Complex animation gets extremely hard to manage without being able to easily identify your objects.

And why can't I export a timed presentation to a QuickTime movie? I brought in my audio, I carefully timed my animations and my automatic slide presentations to the audio. When I run the presentation it is perfect from beginning to end. But Keynote won't allow me to export it in this self-running, previously-timed format to a QuickTime movie. Lame. I end up having to run the presentation and record it using ScreenFlow, then publish from there. Really lame.
