notice the MBPs in the background...can one hope?

edit: the indent for lifting the screen in those MBPs seems to be a bit wider than it currently is (compared to the image on apple.com). I wouldn't be surprised if iWork was released alongside the new Macbooks.

This probably has been covered in some other thread but:
What new features do you expect/hope for when 11 comes out?
I can only think of iWork.com coming out of beta.

OneNote-like features in Pages
Autosave (I mean, really)
Better animation tools in Keynote, Prezi-like features
The ability to "share" files with your default email client, rather than just mail.

Removing it from the website kinda seals the deal. :)

How so? As has been said, it was probably just a mistake. Why would they announce it on a Saturday? I do think it's coming soon, but not Saturday.

iWeb

An iWeb update was just pushed out in the last hour. I know this does not fall under iWork but could be the start of hopefully a few update pushes... including the iWork stuff.

Would be happy with those too. In my opinion, Pages should also focus more on writers, particularly academic writers. Pages is simple to use to make great brochures, flyers and simple documents, but it lacks features that make it really appealing for writers. Personally, I miss customisation options for footnotes and a reference manager in general (I despise that clunky Endnote). In addition, the performance goes down rapidly when working with large text documents. I would like to see some Scrivener-like features to manage the contents of my paper efficiently and let me focus more on the writing. If Scrivener would support Pages better, than this would not be a problem of course. :)

I too use Scrivener and love it. Pages shouldn't be overburdened with Scrivener-like features. A Pages + Scrivener combination works best--Scrivener for any lengthy academic work, Pages for anything else, as well as formatting.

Proper citation support would be nice (I agree EndNote's interface is awful.) Better Pages support in Scrivener would be nice too, but that one is up to Apple--they haven't published the .pages format.

ooohh i'm excited

Not just about the aiyaiyaiyaiyWork name change but the new version as well.

It better be able to save normal docx/xlsx files natively instead of going through export, select my format, screw up my format, and then send to users. I hate office 2011, but iwork needs a little compatibility.

The thing is, Scrivener has become too complex by now and after months of use I still not know how to customise and set-up things properly and end up spending more time in Pages than I should. Pages on the other hand has such a simple yet comprehensive interface that hardly leaves any questions. I would like to see some of that simplicity in Scrivener too, or Pages should just offer a way to manage parts of a document as efficient as Scrivener does.

Really? Best Buy is one of the emptyest stores I've seen in Mexico, also a new product release event wouldn't happen outside the US.
Publicity stunt or Typo

I'm assuming that it's not the product release event itself, but an invitation to Mexican users to learn about the newly released product.

My real question is the same I have with Office... why? I fail to see why I should pay for the suite again when there are typically a handful of features added that I will most likely never use (that could be included in a patch or add-on package if I truly needed them), ad for them to move the menu's around so that it looks like something's changed.

I haven't seen much actually change in office suites since around 2000. New office suite upgrades just feel an awfully lot like beating dead horses. :(

New features are not really lacking too bad, but interface is still terrible in my opinion. It was nice when MS added those quick settings (e.g. two clicks to set all margins to 1"), but office interfaces tend to be rather inelegant. I was very excited to see the iPad's iWork suite look so slick! (a big surprise, trust me)

Scrivener, complex? What exactly are you trying to set up? IMO, what I love about it is that it's just as complex as you make it. You can keep it simple if you want it to be.

I'm thinking this too, which would mean...tomorrow? iLife '11 was announced on a Wednesday.

Part of my thinks there must be at least substance behind this - Best Buy didn't prepare this for no reason at all... :)

But then it also occurs to me that if this is going to be an iWork '11 training event, when on Earth are the trainers themselves going to get time to learn the new package? :(

this is probably for like iWerk '11 the version you can get off the corner dvd seller for like $3 that actually is a linux version or something. i wouldnt believe it too much

I for one hope it comes out soon.... I have iwork 7 on my wife's computer. She does not use it much. I have iwork 8 on mine. My ipad has the iOS version of pages and any document created there cannot be accessed on my mac unless I export it as a word doc first. (Says I need pages 9). I am holding off, because I know as soon as I buy 9 - 11 will then be released.

Depending on what I need to do, I find myself using pages more and more over Word. But there are times when I have to work with a document in both.

similar problems here - I'd like to use bookends with pages, but sonnysoft tell me they need Apple to release APIs. I've send a message to apple, one can only hope.
